So what do you think is going to happen in episode three? How does the borealis relate to the story? Who will live/who will die? What's the g-man's motives? Etc?

I think that the borealis carried portal technology on it- like the Aperture Science portal gun but able to create HUGE portals (that's how the ship was acidentally ported into the arctic.)

Because of the portal technology on the ship, I think that the combine are going to try to get to the ship so that they can open a portal for reinforcements.

I think that Barney IS alive (I don't care what anyone says!). Seriously, tho- I think he arrived at white forest before Gordon and Alyx, because they were in the woods FOREVER trying to make their way to WF Base. I think that Gordon and Alyx were at WF base for a short time before the game ended, so Barney and Gordon simply didn't cross paths.

I think that mossman will die, but it will be heroic in order to make up for her spying for the combine for so long (I know that she was spying in return for Eli's continued safety, but still....dirty spy! LOL).

I think Alyx will want to listen to her dad's final wish and the borealis will be destroyed.

I think that the Gman is an interdimensional being of some sort (maybe Alien?) that wants to bring down the combine. In half-life1, I think that he delivered the xen crystal to black mesa in order to create the dimensional rift cause by the resonance cascade to PURPOSELY bring the combine to earth, because he knew that earth was the universe's only hope for brining down the combine.

Also, I think that the combine will kill magnussan while he eats his microwave carrerole, and Sweepy the vortigaunt. :O

Any other ideas?

I tend not to think about it as when the final day comes i want to be surprised or shocked or what ever Valve decides it should be rather then think about this forum discussion when plot comes in play.

Tinfoil Hat Time!

The Vortigaunts have employed the G-Man to dupe Gordon into thinking that the G-Man is "evil" and that the Vortigaunts are "good" in order to either destroy the Borealis, or to enact some other plan the vortigaunts will call into action by the end of the game. Essentially an intergalactic game of good cop, bad cop.

I think they'll finally tell us why they make us wear these ridiculous ties.

or maybe that retard barnz will finally realize that he isn't as cool as he thinks he is
there... i said it
you suck barnz

could it be that barnz was captured by an advisor on the way to wf then brought to the borrealis to be used as a hostage?

With Alyx devastated by her Father's demise, Kleiner insists she not go to the Borealis. In the mean time Barney finally gets to White Forest and hears about the news and decides to take Alyx's place. As well as Barney, two other unique companions join you and all four of you head off on the helicopter, giving you the same amount of AI companions as in L4D, but they won't always be at your side, giving you some breathing room for more alone time.

You then head North, but when you do you come across a town divided by a large river. As this is the only bridge left standing for miles, the remaining combine ground forces from city 17, heading North as well, are channeled through this town.

This will lead to intense confrontation between Rebel forces and the Combine, and is basically a race against time to destroy this bridge, to prevent comfine forces from crossing. Nearby, there are grassy knolls and fields where there are charred remains of a defence force full of tanks, supply trucks and mobile rocket launchers, left from the days of the 7 hours war. You find a cache of hidden explosives, seemingly undetected by the combine forces for all these years. These are explosives that are used against the bridge.

Once destroyed you travel through this mountainous valley by helicopter, however due to poor weather conditions, you are forced to land at an seemingly abandoned ski resort. You make your first contact with Kleiner here, and look around for anything that can aid. Whilst this occurs, you face off against some old enemies; The Houndeye. Unlike the variety you killed in HL1, this one is weathered for the cold climate, with a thick coat of fur and a more ferocious tendency. They will bury themselves in the snow and ambush the player. After you defeat them, one escapes and triggers an avalanche, destroying half the resort, including the helicopter. You now have to find alternative means of travel.

You find other transport in the form of a couple of skidoos, which you then use to travel through large tracks of pine-forested trackways, underneath a sky lit by an awe-inspiring Aurora. Further along this path you encounter a forest that appears to have suffered from fire. Amidsed the confusion a tree collapses in front, causing one of the companions on a separate skidoo to go flying. This is where a confrontation against a Gargantua takes place. During which your mode of transport is destroyed again. The last killing blow against the Garg comes from a rocket fired from a nearby rocky outcrop.

In the darkness a person, clad in fur garments and a rifle slung over his shoulder, approaches you. This man, brought up in the wilderness and with a thick Finish or Swedish accent (Obviously not a part of the resistance movement) offers you warm shelter and takes you back to his shack, whereby you equip yourself for the last leg of your journey. The man gives you and the rest of the team a ride down to an abandoned fishing village, where you will then find a way on to the Borealis, lodged in the side of an Glacier.

Woah, Woah, Woah... Settle down there. ...Your acting crazy there, Xyle.

Don't worry about it Schall, he was already infractioned for it :)

I get the feeling, Valve is having difficulties tieing the storyline together in a satisfying way because there's so much that needs explaining, hence the long wait. Given all the minor details people tend to explore and debate due to the mystery of it all, I bet the final release may be of some disapointment to some of those people. Likewise, taking all those details in account when explaining the storyline whilst at the same time trying to make a great game would probably require a very delicate balance in developement.

Mossman was a double agent; obviously she admired Eli, and Breen admired her. But to remain at Breen's side she would have to provide results, so the reason why Eli was captured and teleporter technology was created for the combine.

But I'm only guessing that Mossman, along with other members of the resistance may have ties with the Gman that we are yet to be shown

Mutual friend.

What i don't understand is that during her time as a double agent, what did she do to help the resistance? She gave the teleporter technology Eli made to the Combine with could have been disastrous to the resistance. Yes, she saved Eli, but i doubt the kept selling out the resistance on the off chance she may get to rescue him, not to mention it was her that gave Breen, Eli. Also somehow the Combine happen to know about a ship that has experimental portal technology that went missing before they invaded at the same time Mossman finds it.
I wouldn't trust her as far as i could throw her.
