EpOne won't start in offline mode

I'm trying to play this, but if I try to launch it without a connection, it gets to "Loading" the menu screen, then crashes with a "Half-Life 2 is required to play mods" message and a C++ error. I can get it to work by connecting, starting Steam, then disconnecting again, but as the computer [laptop with approximately twenty-second battery life] and the connection aren't in the same room, it's really really inconvenient. Does anyone have a better solution?

Copy the error message and go to Steam Support.

I've been watching this topic as I had the same problem myself. Yesterday I got a reply from steam support about it, they said it's a problem they'd known about for a while, and they've just issued an update which fixes the problem. It works fine for me now, before Ep1 wouldn't run in offline, now it does... happy times!

So yeah, log into steam, let it update, then exit and you're away.
