What do you guys use? It's a simple question. Only two answers as far as I know.

I use an Ergonomic Keyboard. Have for most of my life. I find it difficult using a regular keyboard, but I can adapt when I need to.

Regular

Shit, I forgot to make it a poll. Can a moderator make this a poll please? Just two options, Ergonomic and Regular.

A regular one, it gave me no problems.

Whenever I have to type a long piece of text(eg for school) I turn on my laptop, because those flatter keyboards type great without needing to apply much pressure, and I can type much faster. If I come across some cheap flat keyboard for pc's i'll get one.

Ugh, if there's any type of keyboard I absolutely hate, it's a laptop keyboard. Terrible terrible terrible!

EDIT: Thanks for making it a poll Pi. I assume it's you since you probably got my PM.

got my saitek elclipse 1 and its nice. i supposed if i put the time into an ergonomical keyboard it would be nice, but i like what i got now and i've been used to it for over 20 years now (commadore 64...thank you)

Everytime I've tried an Ergonomic Keyboard it felt wierd and I haven't been willing to spend the money to buy one on the chance I'd never get used to it.

It felt weird to me at first too... but now I never could willingly go back to regular.

Ergonomics, like DreamThrall has, are just fantastic.

I would never be able to use an ergonomic keyboard, they look way too uncomfortable to use.

They're exactly the opposite!

These poll results depress me!

Logitech Ultra X (had to turn it over to find out the name and a month's worth of food fell out)

I use that keyboard. Have been for a good two years. ****ing love it.

The best keyboard is the Dvorak, but you would probably have to learn to type on one of those instead of standard.

Dvorak studied letter frequencies and the physiology of people's hands and created a layout to adhere to these principles:

* Letters should be typed by alternating between hands.
* For maximum speed and efficiency, the most common letters and digraphs should be the easiest to type. This means that they should be on the home row, which is where the fingers rest, and under the strongest fingers.
* The least common letters should be on the bottom row, which is the hardest row to reach.
* The right hand should do more of the typing, because most people are right-handed.
* Digraphs should not be typed with adjacent fingers.
* Stroking should generally move from the edges of the board to the middle. An observation of this principle is that, for many people, when tapping fingers on a table, it is easier going from little finger to index than vice versa. This motion on a keyboard is called inboard stroke flow.[3]

That makes the most sense, but would be a brutal practice to learn keyboarding all over again.

I've been content with this for the past 2 years.

no doubt. it would be too frustrating.

I love my G15. The keys have the perfect feel to them:

though the G19 makes me salivate:

how do you like the gaming buttons on that?
[Button placement, tactile button feedback, configurability, software, useability in games]

I think my regular keyboard cost $7.99 and had free shipping from newegg.

Yea. I'm a baller.

I like those cheap $7 ones better than the crap that ships with some of the pre-built PC's.

They might have all kinds of extra internet buttons and fancy silver styling but they are completely horrible. It feels like typing on a stick of buttered corn on the cob.

I have a G15. It's ok for keys. Hate laptop keyboards though.
Never tried an ergonomic. I know my brother used to have a keyboard that wasn't curved in any way but just had diagonal cut keys.

I can't believe there are still only 3 of us who answered ergonomic...

You're all missing out!

I learned a lot from this thread.

Ergo keyboards do indeed feel funny if you only use them at a friend's house or try them out once or whatever. It took me a good week or two to get back to being as proficient as I was on a standard keyboard, and I work on my computer 8+ hours/day. In the end though, my wrists and finger joints stopped hurting, and I think I'm actually MORE proficient at typing now than I was before. I didn't do typing speed tests to compare, but I kind of wish I had now.
