Prologue: From Then to Now
The launch date that had approached us for so long had finally came. As we boarded the ship, I looked over my shoulder at the blue and green -- A final goodbye to Earth... The planet of which for so long I had called my home.
-- Timothy Parker, Mission Commander of Mars Colony Ship 01, 2063
..............................................................................................................................................................................
A century has already come and gone since humans first flew and stepped onto their moon. From then to now, man has propogated and spread over nearly the entirety of the solar system. Vast ground colonies and orbital stations like Mars Spaceport, Sol Base, and Venus Orbital represent the grandest "space colonies" in human existence. Even in the colder and bleaker regions of the outer solar system, colonists -- less in numbers but still determined -- populate the many moons located about the gas giants. And at one of these bases, Ganymedes Facility Four, is where a bold and unprecedented human expedition is about to launch.
The mission's destination: the stars.
