Erotomania Solo (Dream Theater)

Yeah, I saw that guy. He's very impressive. My main issue is being able to pick fast enough for that amount of time. It's really no stress on my playing hand at all, which is cool. :D

You could do a paul gilbert and whip out the electric drill.....

I can play some of Scarified.

Paul does a ton of cool string skipping too.

wtf? lawl

btw, try to play the "In the name of God" solo mutant beef D:

hmmm, I agree with most of your points there. The only album of DT's that I really love, is Train of Thought that of course you mentioned. I'm not exactly sure who's "fault" it is for what you're describing but I tend not to think that it's John's. Listen to his solo album suspended animation to see why I think that.

John Petrucci has the best phrasing techniques I've ever heard. His solo's have a ton of feeling, though he does tend to trail off and go crazy. It's all tasteful though. I agree that Suspended Animation is one of the best albums I've ever heard. John's a lot better than Vai. In my opinion, Joe Satriani is even better than Vai at phrasing, though maybe not as technical.
