I know this problem has been answered, but the instructions don't work when I apply them.
I downloaded steam a long time ago and it worked fine. I haven't used it for a while and then I tried it again and it said it couldn't connect. I uninstalled steam, reinstalled, it was missing files, I restored the missing files, and made it to the part where you create a user account/pass, etc. At the screen where it asks for nickname, first name, and last name, the "next" button pops up this message
steamprocesscall(createaccount)(0xab0002,0xe7fc04,0xe7fd0c) failed with error 201: Cannot perform this operation while offline
Created Account Failed.
I don't understand because my internet works and has very rarely failed. I tried taking off my firewall and changing my firewall, but that doesn't seem to work.
Any suggestions/help?
