Error after getting the DM and SDK update!

ok so i updated the game and got the MP and the SDK - well now when I try and play half-life 2 it gives me a "launcher error":

Failed to load the launcher DLL:
The specified procedure could not be found.

Argh whats going on! Is there a fix for this?

same thing here, i am starting to get annoyed with valve. they don't even make these updates optional, so if they break things your are screwed. also the half life 2 dm keeps crashing like the memory read thing but without the error message. when will valve stop realeasing beta software.
