Error! Can't Find Background Image

I recently had a problem when I changed my res settings in the intro screens (SEE BELOW), so I reinstalled the game and now when trying run I get:

ERROR! Can't find background image
'materials/console/background02.vtf

Anyone know what I need to do to be able to run HL?

Hi All,

I just changed my video settings and got this message:

Attention out of range
H:74.9KHz V:74.8Hz

I did love playing HL2, but I am now a little annoyed that it doesn't have a config programme (unlike FarCry,UT2004 etc) to change back to original settings.

I am now unable to play this game at all, through me being 'greedy' with my resolution & this should not be the case.

My spec:
2.8ghz proc
768 ram
fx5950 ultra

Does anyone know If I will have uninstall? Or how I might get into where I was & change it back without my monitor giving this message?

I am no expert, just a gamer!

Before reading your message, I am afraid I did a restore and reinstalled the mother (painted a Monet while waiting, Yawn!) Everything is fine now and it even kept my game saves, so I;m a happy bunny! :imu:
