Error in Half-Life 2 Menu - Please help

I got the silver pack off steam and downloaded and installed Half-Life 2. The first time i played it, it worked fine except for a little problem (Screenshot: http://www.enemytarget.com/bug2.JPG) So i thought i would change all the graphics options and see if it made a difference but it made it worse. Now i cant even play the game.

So i decided to delete all of steam and halflife2 and re download and reinstall everything which took ages. Now when i load up halflife 2 i get this: (Screenshot: http://www.enemytarget.com/bug5.JPG) I cant play the game at all now even after i re install everything, there is not a problem with my graphics card because the first time i played halflife 2 it worked. After i changed the graphics settings on halflife2 it stopped working but i would have thought reinstalling would put them back as default. So i cant play halflife2 because of this error.

Please help me?

What are the specs of your PC?

it looks like ur video cards had it, wat video cards, drivers etc do u have?

My specs are fine because i played it the first time but they are:

athlon xp 2.6
geforce 5600 256mb
1gb ram
nforce2

And i have DirectX 9

Cards can crap out like that.

Try some other newish games for a while and see if the same thing is happening, also does the fan on your GFX card have a filter?

What nvidia drivers are you using for the nforce driver and the graphics card?

Nevermind fixed it. It was my messed up graphics card, swapped it for another one and it works fine.

Good to hear now don't come back till your arms can't move from playing HL2 tooo much.
