Error messages shown in video stress test!!

Hi

I have been playing CS and HL2 for quite a while now and recently its performance has been suffering and I thought it was network/internet lag...but its not

I ran the stress test when i first started HL2 the very first time I installed and everything was fine, but now in the stress test map, when the camera goes down the shaft and goes past the first set of rotating spinning things above the reflective water, (I think 5 altogather) it just displays a the word error in big red capitals and it is obviously having trouble with those textures now and would explain the lag...

I have re-installed my graphics card drivers (ATI Radeon 9550 256MB) and re-installed HL2 and it still has the same errors.

Everything else looks fine except for thoser first couple things...

It used to work fine, but now after the updates it doesnt... ;(

Everyone that has Counter Strike has those error models show up. It causes no problem at all, so it ain't the cause of your sudden lag.

Thats quite strange because I had a really crap graphics card and I tested HL2 on that so i could see the difference the new one would make.

I cant remember the original fps I got but most of the video test on my old card looked crappy. I installed my new one -Radeon 256MB and did the video test and was impressed. Everything looked real purdy and I was happy. Lag started to become a problem and I ran the test again and noted the spinning errors which used to be different texture surfaces and I thought it had gone like that after the latest valve update...?

But if other people are getting that error too then at least I'm not alone and there should be a fix on the way?? :naughty:

Yeah, some Steam update messed up those stress test models. There should be a fix, but there has been two updates lately and none of them adressed the problem. So I'm not sure how long they are going to take for the fix.
