I posted this here not only to warn people, but to also ask a question I failed to find here in the hardware forums.

First off, never, ever, put a slightly cracked CD into a high speed CD ROM. :hmph:

So I got the drive fixed and cleaned out, the CD was in about a billion peices. The drive works, to an extent naturally, so I need a new one.
The drive was a Samsung 52x32x52x CD-RW drive, and it worked amazingly until the acident. The one I am looking at is this one and I am wondering if that drive is worth it? If anyone knows of a better brand please tell, I do overburns sometimes and I use RWs alot, it also must be 52x (can't let the rest of my CDs go to waste :D )

looks ok to me, and never put anything slightly cracked in a HIGH speed burner, low speeds have less risk of shatter

Not supposed to burn a CD with the label on heh
