Did a search but didn't find anything specific to this film. Not surprising considering it was from 1997..10 years old now..:O

Anyway, directed by Paul Anderson of Resident Evil, Alien vs Predator infamy. Thought i'd get that out in the open before anyone brings it up later bashing it just cos he Directed it.

So, got the Special Edition - 2 discs, loads of good special features etc. Decent enough commentary, very good 'Making Of' 5-part featurette, some good deleted scenes and concept work :D

The film itself though (i'll try avoid spoilers) Sam Neil, Laurance Fishburne, Joely Richardson, Jason Isaacs and more.

Sci-Fi/Horror/Psych-Thriller contraption, had very good special effects and some wonderful shots. A very good looking film, though feels a bit rushed in reality, though considering they only had 4 full weeks of post-production (Paul worked on 2nd Unit for a while longer) i wasn't surprised.

From what you see of 'Hell' it is a quite sickening gory place, wouldn't have minded to see some more of that but alas D:

Checked out the reviews and got a very bad reception, only 17% on rottentomato which i think is a very poor rating of the film.

8/10 for me and definately Anderson's best work!

Doom (movie) should've been more like Event Horizon, I thought the whole derelict space ship thing was awesome. The creepy kid bit was cliche though, even for back then.

Yeah, but what the kid did to Peters in her demise was great :D

The role of guilt and fears of the characters is done very well...shame it wasn't explored even further. Would've loved to have seen the actual sequence where Miller left the Burning Man behind! :D

And good point on Doom

Event Horizon is great fun - nice and freaky, good atmosphere.

Excellent movie, and really creeped me out when I saw it as a kid. Good sci-fi, cyberpunk feel to it.

I hated it! Not because it was a bad movie or anything... infact it was a fantastic movie! I hated it because I got nightmares from it.

Not bad, good scary atmosphere but sometimes it's too unnecessarily violent and plot with hell dimension is weird and unscientific. Sam Neil is my favourite actor and he rocks in this movie.

Polaris have you seen In The Mouth Of Madness? that was a good movie too. Very creepy.

Not yet, but it must be great, it was influenced by H. P. Lovecraft, directed by John Carpenter (The Thing) and Sam Neil is main protagonist...
Thanks for the tip.

I have yet to watch it from beginning to end...

I've been planning on renting it, thanks for the reminder! :D

love event horizon...have the 2 disc edition aswell

got it in all its nice plastic packaging

This movie freaked the living shit out of me when I saw it as a wee lad. I like it. It has plenty of faults, but they're made up for with the creepy atmosphere that pervades the whole thing.

Oh, and the soundtrack was brilliant. I actually bought the CD. Orchestral creepiness thrown against Orbital is sex.

Oooh *makes notions of interest in such CD*

Wow, watching this movie on the Sci-Fi channel really doesn't do it justice...

I went out and bought the 2 disc special edition...
Definitely made me feel uneasy from start to finish, jumped a few times.
Great movie, very underrated.

When I was 15, I thought this movie was brilliant. I suspect as soon as I watch it again I'll hate it (Same as The Fifth Element and Final Destination). When it comes down to it though, it's a good piece of trashy entertainment.

Never saw this. Looks interesting, going to defiantly check it out.
