Everquest 2 Graphics = CGI movie quality

On the best video cards, it's true the game looks as good as the best pixar/disney cgi flicks, it's simply stunning the amount of detail in the armor / models and enviorments. Just finished whatching the gameplay movies and I kept thinking is that real, is that a video game? is this a cgi? But nope it was gameplay footage, the real deal, my jaw dropped.. I wish my machine could make it look like a cgi movie! but damn! That game is georgeous! Closest to a cgi movie i've ever seen in a real time game. I'm about to play WoW open beta (my first time playing WoW) so I can decide between EQII or WoW... they both seem so amazing.. ugh! I wish they didn't have monthly fees :hmph: I can't get over how amazing EQII is though, literally everythign has dialouge even monsters as you fight them and they're are even scripted sequences in dungeons with your party where you are faced with beasties that give you ultimatums etc (that you can select from)

Call me skeptical, but I extremely doubt that it's anywhere near CGI movie quality. I've heard that said about many games and it's never true. It was said of Doom 3 a couple years ago too.

But could you list some links to these game play videos? I wouldn't mind seeing them.

yeah in the movies it looks really nice..

but if u see some screenshots it doesnt really look so nice i think.
especially the worlds look a little dead and empty, pretty boring.

and i downloaded the character creation kit, and it really doesnt look as good as i expected :/

some of the movies look really nice almost cgi quality..but its because the movies arent such good quality

low quality movies can make a game look much better then it is sometimes

Oops, was really asking Sh4mp00 that.

But I agree, low quality movies really hide a lot. It's like having extremely high AA almost.

Edit: I just watched one in game trailer and it looks alright. The models are actually pretty nice it seems, but the environment seems just so-so.
