Obviously there wasn't this much hype surrounding the release of Half Life 1 because no one knew how amazing it was going to be. Now that they've gained themselves one of the largest gaming communities on the planet, people are going to be watching their sequels, like HAWKS! And they have been. Which is fine. I'll be the first one to admit I'm a total full blown HL2 fanboy. (21 years of age). But guys come on. This whole Valve bashing, and feeling totally screwed over by Valve's countless delays is just so.... trivial!! HL1 was delayed one year from it's scheduled release date. So atleast lets give them that same window on HL2. If it gets pushed back over Sept 30th, then we have a reason to start being concerned. So they delayed the pre-load, its only a PRELOAD! I'm sure they'll annouce another minor delay before we Officially have HL2 INSTALLED on our harddrives. But until we do. Let them do their thing. They are a team that works from inspiration and moral, the last thing they need to see is the community they gave birth to not supporting them in their most lime lit time. The blood, sweat and tears that has gone into HL2 is something only Valve can ever know, we owe them a hell of alot more credit than some of you are giving them right now. Don't forget the reason we're all here. Because in the end, we're going to get a total package that puts Doom3, Stalker, and Far Cry to shame. Think of the joy of reading "HL2 installation complete". Think of all the good. And let these thoughts create boosts of support to Valve. Their still a rookie company in many eyes. Let's support them, like they have supported us since 1998 guys COME ON!!!

no doubt i want to valve to succeed, which im sure they will. but they can improve as a company if they learn from their mistakes.

How about you try forming a small company, and release a sequel to what many consider one of the best FPS games ever made.

i never claimed i could make a better game, what i can do what valve doesn't seem to know how to do is learn from my mistakes and improve on them. it doesn't take a genius to do something as simple as that.

has nothign to do with making a sequel to a game.

True but my problem is im not just waiting for hl2 but i´m also expectant about vampire bloodlines.
Common v-a-l-v-e!!!

I'm not bashing Valve, I don't feel screwed by all the delays, it's just that all these delays are not very professional at all, and give a poor impression of the company.

yea i am sure there was only ONE for the delay of the game.

ONE for the SMALL delay pushback of the pre load hl2.

i think there was ONE delay on CS:S

I think there's been more then 1 delay for HL2, but there's only been one actual delay if you're talking about confirmed CONCRETE, SET IN STONE release date, Sept 30th that was.

VALVe.....Yes please do RELAX people.

For all their faults you have got to love those guys at VALVe. Ok, they give out crap release dates & constantly build us up only to knock us down again. But it goes without saying; look at what they contribute to their community as a whole.

You also have to consider that they dont have THAT many titles/projects under their belts and they are still finding their ways in the business. There are a heck of a lot of very very talented people working there and you put those people together - you can guarantee they will come up something totally mind blowing.

Bottom line though:

VALVe as a software developer just REEKS of Q.U.A.L.I.T.Y!!

They will not take any chances with your game experience - they will leave no stone unturned to make sure you have the VERY best in experiences when you sit down to play - time after time.

Half Life 2 will get here - and when it does, we'll ALL be singing their praises once again.

The only reason the pre-load of HL2 was knocked back was so that they could get an update of CS:S out, which is fine by me. I can wait another couple of days for my HL2 pre-load fix.

The common mis conception is that Valve doesn't care about us, and when they make a delay, they're not thinking about the community. But in actuality every move they make, every delay the regrettably annouce, is to make us happy in the end.

Agreed, they are not asking you to buy HL2. Be thankful you only have to pay £40 (or whatever) for 5 years worth of their work and then be enjoying it for another 5 years to come. That's value for money. I am happy to wait for it to be totally polished and an awesome game.

Pewrsonaly, I would have whanted them to prohibit all those people who are are negative all the time and dont give any support of getting HL2 atleast 3 weeks after its officialy out. But i know thats impossible.

But i sincierly hope that Vlave just ignor you negative pople. Which i think they do, most of the time.

Well, I think id's "when it's done!" was a much smarter move. The last year of the VALVe and community thing looks like an epic story, like Ulysess. After many years of tragedy's and disappointments it will finally come home.
