Everyone - They said you couldn't do it!

indeed, but I still have yet to do it myself :p

Thank got this sort of stuff can't be scripted...

Hax.

:p
I think there must be lag or something helping you because it seemed impossible when I tried.

Though I can do a hoverboard-ish thing upwards and get as high as file cabinet+desk+combine ball jumping.

woah, isnt that the singleplayer flying thing?

I thought I was your file host of choice.

Now my feelings are hurt.

comrade m8.. you are the trickster :).

looks very cool indeed, do you think it could be done quickly enough to use it in actual gameplay?

Yeah, it could be very useful in actual gameplay with the right object to hand... although if you don't see it lying right there in front of you to begin with you'll probably spend more time looking than you wouldn't just moving normally :)

Wish I'd thought to take some demo's so people could have seen you do it in 3rd person. Not half as impressive from the 1st person view. I can get the odd boost but still can't manage it to be honest :/

What do you have your jump bound to? Is it on the scroll wheel?

yeah, it looks pretty impressive watching it, he's just standing there one minute, flying across the room the next :p

c'mon, tell us how to did it or at least send me a PM :). I'm happy for everything little bit you can learn in HL2DM

Its very simple. Just place the four .dem files in C:\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\YOURNAME\half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2mp Then go in your game, open up console and type "playdemo hover" and for the next demo type "playdemo hover2" without the ". And thats it.

The console is even nice enough to list your demos if you just type in 'playdemo ' so that you don't have to forget about remembering the file name.

Thx, Ben. I was trying to work it out, but wasn't sure where to put the files.

@ComradeBadger - How do you do it?:)

*Puppy Eyes*

Jump on the plank as you manipulate grab it - use sprint for pretty much guarenteed boost.

I use Space for jump for those who care :)

I managed to get a quick screenshot of the hoverboard action!

:D

it's really hard to do, I can't even get it started :p

Netrex is gonna make an avi with 1st person and 3rd person view :)

Can't wait :D

Instructions: It's easy - aim at the tip of the plank with the manipulator, and jump on it, helps if you sprint .. I've had varying sucess rates with this - even on the same server - I ain't got it down yet :p

I've done that in garry's mod by accident...except i didnt get real far, and I usually wind up 50 feet in the air, but hey, at least I've done it...

Btw, is that the same trick that's used in the ravenholm re-run vid? Cause the board surfing in that video is just insane.

I've done it in SourceForts before, by accident.

in the leak code, it was possible to flip heavey objects with planks just by using them as a spring board when picking them up with the manipulator, you could slide it under a ragdoll, or veichle, quickly move your mouse up, and flip away, :( but the got rid of that firm hold grip on the object, you cant do it in the final build.

Stupid dunebag server with its password ;). Btw, writing Saft with non standard characters makes it really hard to search for you guys with gametiger :).

ui, one more program to install, but since friends hasn't worked ONCE since I got a new steam account for HL2, i might as well try it. (I mean Valve, how hard can it be to code an instant message client that actually works)

It's worth doing - I like it cos can respond to IM's without alt-tabbing outta games :)

is there a video file of this yet? i can't run demos at the moment.

Sorry for the dumb question, but how do you open the console

Firstly, go to:

-> Main Menu
-> Options
-> Keyboard
-> Advanced
-> Tick the box 'Enable developer console'

Then, while in-game, press "~". Located to the left of "1" and above the "Tab" key.

Type any valid commands in that open window.

Shame I didn't notice the thread earlier. Are the links still active? I wanna download when I get home

Yeah links are still active - I use proper hosting :p not this free to all crap :D

<3 Pro[pH]et n onions :)

I managed to do it maybe once :]. I run on the wooden plank, when I'm at the edge of it I jump and pull with the grav gun at the same time, but usually nothing happens :/
