PC.IGN has posted a four page preview on Half-Life 2 in the anticipation of the upcoming reviews and gold announcment.[br]

The article covers "Everything [IGN] know. Everything you need to know." and should make for a pretty interesting read. Here's a quote:
You'll find plenty of the old Half-Life favorites on the list of dangerous creatures. The head-crab makes an appearance in two versions now -- one sleek and sporty and one big and heavy. (There's also a flying variety but we don't want to give anyone nightmares so we won't mention it -- except to say that we're not mentioning it.) The large ceiling barnacles with the long tongues have also been upgraded as have the zombies and bull squids from the last game. Higher poly counts and better animations give each of the creatures an even more realistic appearance than they had last time around just to make the poop in your pants a tad bit juicier.

IGN seem to think a November 1st release and they said soemthing about waiting a month from now till its out and seem rather confident of it. I know its not official but its still a glimmer of hope :angel:
 
I had forgotten all about the bullsquids. Good read too. The November 1st release date is fine with me.

It's amazing how fast this "hey, look. another preview/review" stuff is getting old. Just release the damn game.
 
To me, that's more of a "Everything you don't want to know" article. I checked a little bit of it, thought it was too spoiling. IGN should try not to abuse chances like this.
 
nice one Chris, it was a good article, I'm still not convinced of the November release date tho.. I'm hoping we will be getting it sometime this month (October) just seems strange to me that we have had no word from Valve on whether the RC has been rejected & they needed to submit another or if the first one has, or is going to go GOLD...
 
Again, PC IGN (or whatever they are called) have confused me. In "but seeing as how the gold candidate was given to publisher Vivendi" they refer to a gold candidate. Surely the word gold is not correct here. Is it really the final release candidate?

Edit: Oh, yeah. It's just a stupid name for release candidate.
 
to be fair it's not "Everything you need to know about Half-Life 2"

where's the confirmed release date, and exactly how it runs on my PC!? :p
