Ex-Pantera members shot

yeah I just heard that.. it's confusing.. one source says he's dead, another that he lives.. I hope he makes it..

Just heard about this... I very sad, since I'm a big Dimebag/Pantera/even Damageplan-fan... Me and my friends talked every day about Dime in a God-like way, and our band is hugely inspired by Dime/Pantera...
This sucks... Hate everything! :'(

this is totally unreal. Dimebag is a ****ing legend and this is total bullshit

Yeah. I felt sick after reading the headline. Such a ****ing waste.

Never heard of the band, or that guy... So meh...

I don't really like metal anyway...

STFU MaxiKana...no need to be a disrespectful piece of crap here.
There must be a million people on this planet that wake up every now and again with the cemetary gates riff in their head...

thanks for your helpful post. now that we all know that you have no idea who this is about, and that you "don't really like metal anyway", we can all sleep a peaceful night.

Yeah.. I can relate to that.. One of my bands is also hugely inspired by Pantera.
I called our guitarist this morning with the news, and after the initial shock we quickly decided to make our next gig a all-Pantera tribute gig.. It's the only thing we could think of to do. It's all so sad.

Thats really sad...what makes it even worse is that it happened the same day as John Lennon was shot 24 years ago. :frown:

You're a total retard. You tried to look cool but ended up looking like a pathetic idiot...

Anyway... even though I was never a huge fan of Pantera, I owned a couple of their CDs, and anyone that's heard of them will recognize their significance in the metal scene. Entertainers being shot on stage for reasons like this is just terrible... This event is nothing but bad news for metal, and the concert going public everywhere...

I hope it never happens again to any band.(except maybe Britney Spears or some crap like that) I think we will see a major beef-up of security at concerts.

Im glad im not the poor sob that was responsible for "security" at that gig.. I mean.. how can they let someone just walk in with a gun? Especially in the US.

I bet 10 years from now well be hearing hundreds of conspiracies about this...

did he die? Anybody know why Dimebag was shot? And who shot him?

It had something to do with the breakup of Pantera... at least that's what I got from this...

"Damageplan had just begun their first song in front of several hundred at Alrosa Villa when the gunman jumped onstage, made a comment about Pantera's breakup, and began firing at close range into Darrell's body, shooting him several times before opening fire on the crowd."

Police in Columbus have released the name of the gunman who went on a shooting rampage last night, Wednesday December 8, at a Damageplan gig killing at least four people - including guitarist Dimebag Darrel - before a police officer shot him dead.

Nathan Gale, 25, of Marysville, reportedly jumped the stage and opened fire.

The shooting took place shortly after 10 p.m. at Alrosa Villa, while the band were playing the first song of their set. A man, who was reportedly wearing a hockey jersey and hooded sweatshirt, began firing at point-blank range at least four times at guitarist Dimebag Darrell.

The former Pantera member - real name Darrell Abbott - was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have also released the names of two others who died. They were Nathan Bray and Erin Halk, both audience members. It is still unknown if any other Damageplan members were wounded in the attack.

Yeah, I figured they have metal detectors and guards and all kids of stuff.I went to a concert back in 2000 before any of the terrorist stuff or anything and they made me take everything out of my pockets and they sweeped me with a handheld metal detector. Didnt they do that at that concert?

Possibly... apparently in a recent interview Phil Anselmo gave in Metal Hammer... he said Dimebag should be beaten severely... or something along those lines... maybe someone took it to heart?

I wonder if it had anything to do with the 24th anniversary of John Lennon's death. John wasnt realted to metal or punk rock, but it still could have some significance.

I think theres more than that but who knows. We wont until at least a week or two when they release more info on it.Dec 8th will be remembered by all metal/Pantera/Damageplan fans though.

It should have happened to nobody in that band. None of them deserved to be shot.

ok, let me rephrase : if it had to happen, it should have happened to phil - for obvious reasons. i wish nobody died that way but hey - to choose between the lesser of evils..

Yes... from what I read, Phil was the reason for the breakup of Pantera, not Dimebag. Why did he choose to kill Dimebag? Convenience?

Maybe Dimebag was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. He may have been the first person the shooter could see or get a shot at.

my deepest simpathies go out to his family and friends.
we will miss you dimebag, i know for ****ing sure i will

I don't know, maybe Phil's words about Dimebag deserving a beating inflamed some maniacs mind and drove him to deal out this "punishment"? I bet Phil is wondering that right now. He should. But hey, who knows..
