This has been making its rounds around the internet. I'm quite surprised no one has posted it up here.

According to reports, deaf shopper Alex Rea was leaving a Forever XXI store when he was tackled by a security guard and choked on the sidewalk. A passerby filmed the incident on his phone and caught most of the altercation.
Alex Rea did not hear the alarm go off as he left the store and was then tackled. He yelped and tapped at the security guard trying to signal that he is deaf. Bystanders yelled at the guard alerting him that Rea was turning purple and that his eyes were bulging out.

A friend that was shopping with Rea, believed to be his brother Pablo, was trying to catch the security guard's attention as well to let him know that they were deaf. He attempted to show another staff member receipts for their purchases.

Don't have the nerve to watch that video after reading the description :(

Definitely excessive. I mean shit, people tell you he's turning people and you keep your ****ing arm around his neck?

****ing meathead. You obviously have him overpowered... you can quit ****ing compressing his head and neck.

Well, I was watching it and I got all choked up.

I want to know if he was innocent or not. Also wonder if the security guard was charged with an offense. He should be, whether the guy stole anything or not.

I don't know that he's innocent. He has a prior history of petty theft, and I think they found some stolen items on him. Just from another article I read, I'm not entirely sure.

Still doesn't justify what they did. I mean, you have him subdued, great... you don't have to choke the life out of him.

Store Security my ass. that guy better be fired. Also never shop at forever21!

also I hope the deaf guy gets a huge settlement and the guard is jobless soon. assholes like that deserve to be fired and publicly humiliated

lol, what was with the spazzy short guy in the reflector shirt at 2:47? Hes my favorite.

Yeah I was wondering that. Around that time I also hear someone screaming what sounds like "LAUGH LAUGH GO AHEAD AND LAUGH" over and over again, but it's very hard to make out.

Tough one. The security guard was just doing his job, though with excessive force.

The deaf guy did have stolen property, but they only confirmed that after the altercation, so that could have happened to an innocent person.

Both sides got what they deserved apparently. The deaf guy was arrested and placed at a 50k bail, whiles the security guard was fired.

Two wrongs don't make a right, so at least both were punished.

Shit like this pisses me off. His buddy should've stopped being so nice and kicked the guy in the ****ing face.

Sounds like his friends protests fell on deaf ears.
