'Exclusive HL2 media disc' with CZ pre-orders

Last night I got Sierra's insider newsletter, there are some interesting info in it. They are offering Exclusive HL2 footage (and cz trading cards........) for a limited time if you preorder at gamestop: http://enews.sierra.com/Key=1283.kxq.G.D.LQWctn

So thats what the kept the video's back for I guess.. I wont be ordering anything just to see those, I'll wait to they get hosted on a HL2 site and get them for free.

i cant imagine how to play cs in cards... will mana be needed? will we summon creatures? will we wipe our asses with the cards and the owner of the card that gets dirtier will be winner?
 
yeah, i'm gonna get the media for free hosted somewhere like fenric :p
 
problably everyone will do this...except for the guy who bought it and posted it...
 
Note: the email does not say anything is "new". I bet the HL2 disc will be the blink videos.

that would be even more stupid than trading cards game...why would anyone want the same ol' videos? isnt the exclusive media suposed to be a trumph for selling?
 
Keep in mind that the average gamer has not actually seen the HL2 blink videos.
 
And a good few of the bits of the E3 demos never surfaced as binks, like the buggy bit, so maybe they'll get those.

its prolly the bink vid version of the buggy and strider part of the e3 video, that would be a major bummer
 
Has any emailed anyone at Valve about the so called "exclusive media"?
 
Just dropped a line to Lombardi (eh.. PR type guy, figured he'd be the best to ask), I'll post back if I get a reply
 
Valve should've considered following Id's lead(Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory) and distribute CS:CZ for free over Steam. It would've 1) been a great stress test for Steam and 2) a great way to mend fences with disgruntled fans. Sure they would've lost money but the explosion of Steam adopters would've been enormous and HL2's release would've had many more Steam purchases which would mean much more profit for Valve.
 
Personally, I love Steam. Been using it for well over a year or more now, ever since the open phase of the Steam 1 beta to play HL 1.1.1.0 and CS 1.5, and I'm not going to be buying HL2 over Steam, I've already got my boxed copy pre-ordered.

A more Steam users = More HL2 Steam purchasers theory isn't necessarily true.

Boy2: Ha! That's what you think! I lay down the 'Shit lucky' card all my members dodge the shots! Then I lay down the 'Crouch' card, your awper is gone!

I belive they said trading cards, not playing cards.
So don't expect another era of stupid overly hyped card game insanity.
It'll be like trading baseball cards, but with guns :)
 
Thank you to the grammarians of this forum to tell us that we are mispelling words. Yet it doesn't matter how the **** I spell it aslong as you understood me. So TS to that. Yeah wtf were they thinking about playing cards.

Tho you know someone is going to "hack" those cards lol

Boy 3: I turn on my Aimbot, Wallhack and Speed hack and kill every CT with a single headshot in .o6 seconds flat.
 
Maybe just maybe it will show some half life 2 multiplayer media! But, I doubt it...

What part about "several million successful downloads" was missed here? The HL2 E3 coverage/bink videos was the biggest download on File Planet for months.

I'm still not pre-ordering. And I'll STILL get it the same day as everyone else.
 
I know they are not playing cards, i was just mearly giving a humorless situation if they were playing cards.
