will hl2 feature animations for picking things up such as ammo new guns and pharomone nades (doubt it and almost hope not) would really only be nice for mp for immersion how about walking wierd when your hit or holestering weapons on different places on your body and takeing them out

thanks for any replys

i don't think they'd be able to do modeling animations like that from first person. They said they'd keep you in first person at all times, so it'd be kinda hard (and pointless) for them to design the animations. They don't even know if you'll be lookin at your body when you pick a weapon up, so probably not.

The days of trying to emulate arbitrary movements with buttloads of animations are over.

Physics will replace the need for excessive animation. Of course, the gun models on your HUD will not be part of the 3D world, but what you see, everything, can be affected by forces and will act differently upon applying such forces.

HL2 the game wouldn't work with EVERYTHING you mentioned, but the tech is there for mods to take advantage of said features. Wouldn't it suck if games were 100% realistic and if you hurt your leg and there was no hospital and doctors to heal you, you'd limp the entire game? What about shooting guns out of your hands... if the AI tried that on you, it wouldn't be trying to kill you... so why are the combine/aliens trying to take you back alive... there has to be a reason for things like that to be implemented.

how bout ones that dont show from first person view but can be seen in mp?? and in npc

how much will phisics effect pick-up-ables like new guns and ammo nades and stuf... for instance if you shoot a nade will it explode.... can you wreck a gun and move it around by shooting it before you pick it up??? can an alien or npc scew up something you want to pickup or alter it phisically and move it around

It won't have animations for picking up nades and stuff, that would just mess up the gameplay of any FPS game. And you already saw Gordon picking up stuff in the E3 vids... just walk over it.

yes but what about pick up ables like i mentioned b4 in an edit

In Halo you can shoot guns and they would spin around. I don't see anything wrong with that, except for making it more dynamic (instead of just spinninig around)

In Halo you can blow guns away with grenades and stuff too, and set off chain reactions witih grenades that are on the floor.

From the looks of the physics system, you should be able to do some cool stuff with your weapons. One of the first things I want to try is if the manipulator will work on live grenades. If you're quick, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to toss a grenade on the ground, pick it up with the manipulator, and launch it very very far. That's what I would have done to those gunships, if the rocket launcher wasn't available.

Or perhaps you may run out of rocket ammo, forcing you to use the rocket launcher tube as a manipulator-launched projectile! Sorry I'm going off thread topic here. apologies.

About animations, I think that with the ragdoll system in place, even existing animations will look great. The reagdoll system adds weights and mass to the animations, so I think watching npcs and multiplayer will be a treat.

oo man were gona have soooo much fun with the phisics engine maybe there will be a mod especially for fun with physics
