What is this laughable bullet reg I experience at times - no, scratch that - frequently? I can go full auto on a target that is standing right in front of me and have no effect? I can shoot targets in the head from far away and see the bullets hit but have no registration on the target I'm shooting at. It's very, very frustrating especially when I should have been able to kill the enemy without trouble.

I use rate 20000 cl_updaterate 101, cmd_rate 101, cl_rate 9999 and cl_interp 0.01. I can go into 1.6 and pop plenty of people without trouble but as soon as I try and shoot someone in source it's an utter joke. ;(

I've only just started playing this week so I'm not sure if everyone has the same issues as I?
 
well, I feel you pain. The whole feel of CS: Source is just wrong. I hate it.

If I am correct CS: Source is still running on the beta engine, what I mean by this is its still not fully there. As in... they plan to actually release it fully when Half-Life 2 comes out (I hope). I also don;t think the Valve anti cheat is active yet. I also could be wrong on this as well. I really hope they get CS sorted.

On another note cl_rate is for lan, so u don't even need to change it :p

cl_interp 0.01.... I always leave my interp standard. There is also ex_interp '0.05' and Interp 'ON' But these where later classed as cheats, I am not sure why or even if they still are classed as such...
 
the engine source is running on will most likely be the finished product. They are only adding maps and stuff now, not looking for bugs.

When i tried screwing with my rates, it just made me lag real bad, i suggest trying them on default, becuase im pretty sure rates need to be a bit different with source from 1.6 .

occasionally i do get sum dodgey bullet reg, but im thinking its mostly lag related. I get a decent ping but fairly frequent lag spikes :(
doesnt stop me from getting kills tho.
