Exstrem High Ping

Hi i have a big problem. My ping is over 300+ all the time on CS:S.
I have good cpu an a 3 Mbit DSL line.
It's only CS:S i have high ping, not on CS.
What can be the problem? Need help guys!

Um, in the Steam menu, go to Settings and the internet and make sure that that setting is true to your connection. Might help.

umm dj is every server ur choosing out of the country because that can raise ur ping also

Ok done it and still high ping. and i tested many servers some i get over 600 ping and others 300. and if try to make a home lan it's the same problem.

try getting a new lan cable, if that doesn't work, just get a new lan card. That will usually fix up problems like this

make sure all your firewalls and other local networking proceses are down that helps too

Maybe try changing Steam's priority to below normal in the task manager.

Does it really lag or just display 300+ ping? Because I used to have a problem that displayed my ping at 999 but only for me.

Yes and the cable i new and the card is so old. And i have no firewalls on either.
and now i can't change video settings, have a little lag not bad.
