Mine has been working for months now, pretty happy, plodding along as storage for my stuff. But now it doesnt show up in My Computer, while in device manager etc it does, i can defrag it etc and all the files are still there.

Google keeps coming up with people needing to reformat from FAT32 or something, and i dont need to do that. afaik. But i cant find the answer to my problem, does someone know? :angel:

Don't format to FAT32, unless it's a freakishly small drive.

Nope. I can't think of anything. I don't and have never run an external hdd before. Did you purchase it as an external or convert an internal using a kit?

So if you unplug it and plug it back in, it doesn't pop up as a USB drive by the clock?

It does yes, I have the 'Safely Remove hardware' icon up. But the drive doesnt show in My Computer and i cant access it through XP or programs (mcplayer or something), other than the Device Manager. etc. :rolling:

it's an old internal hdd i converted to external with an icybox enclosure.
