Extremely Important: "****ed up"

One day I was playing TF1 (this is about TF1 I hope you guys don't mind) and the admin of the server got mad at me. Then all I see is in the middle of the screen in big white lettering is "Glus_Master has been ****ed up". I died when it appeared, and everytime I would hit a key like WSAD or the key to chat, I would fall over and die. I couldn't chat to tell others what was wrong, so all I could do wa join a server or exit a server. I tried uninstalling and reinstalloing the game, but it did nothing.
[I was playing on a conc jumping serv if that matters at all]

If you ever need to reset your config back to stock, the fastest way to do it is to delete your "SteamApps\[email protected]\Team Fortress Classic" directory. Deleting the game only gets rid of the Valve-provided files, so that you can free up space without getting rid of your config files.

Funny, today I was REALLY close to banning another admin for admin abuse. Something I'll probably do anyway in the near future whenever I see him screw around again.

I did stuff like that to a few cheaters before I banned them. I rebound their use key (assuming it's e) to "+use; rcon sv_password penis" so that they get automatically banned from some servers when they press it


And changing everyone's name to PENIS is fun too just to see if it would work.

Your jobs as admins are to please people and host a respectable place for respectable people to play in with their favorite games, but because of people like you instead we're tortured to know that half the servers are dangerous to be on!
Sure most people would find the word penis funny but what if some young kid sees that and hes grounded by his Mom or, even worse, he's grounded for life! I hate to say this to fellow forum members but you people are low. :hmph:

I assume you're talking to me? Well I can tell you that I'm about the only respectable admin on there. That little stunt was a request from someone before I left. I always grant one wish before I leave and I found it to be a quite humorous idea.

And people getting grounded for seeing the word penis? :| You have to be 18 to play this game legally anyway. So if they get grounded for anything it'd be for playing the game.

Few things are worse than an abusive admin. Changing your config is probably the LOWEST of the low. Changing names, that's not really harmful. Repetitive kicking, that one sucks. Admin abuse is a plague; it's why you find a good server with a good core of people and you STAY THERE. Because you get these servers where you've got kids with power in their hands, and they go wild.

But, I've done some crazy things myself as an admin. You know that NeoTF mod? A [Darkside] created that. One of my own clan, so I was an admin on the NeoTF servers. Man, we used to have a lot of fun screwing around with things there...temp invincibility, playing with the gravity, spawning objects in the sky that'd detonate if you got close to them. One of the best was a giant inflated cow we called the "cow rocket."

It was responsible for many deaths.

I've been admin on a lot of servers and generally, when you're not just having a laugh (and make sure everyone's in on it), the best policy is discretion. Don't mess with the game unless you have to. Don't mess with the players unless you have to, and "mess with" being kicks or bans only. Don't screw with people. In the end it makes YOU look like the dick.

as long as the admin is doing things that are just in jest, and aren't actually cruel things, then i don't really see the problem. if they're ****ing with people's configs just to execute their power over people on their server, then thats wrong. if they're just having a few laughs that doesn't cost anyone else anything then i don't see the problem.

also, if its their server, then really... they can do what ever the hell they want in all fairness. that might be harsh... but its the truth.

oh yeah. always set your config to read only.
