were is the qc eyes and face poser huh?
it was supost to come out with the full sdk

i think i heard it was in the sdk, just in another program, not a stand-alone

Actually it's not buried in anything else. It's just not out yet.

The "full" SDK is not out yet. Read carefully. This was an "update" to the SDK.

It's probably still in testing, according to what I've been told.

i heard that the full sdk was released with the surprise, which was hl2dm... but i may be wrong

We all assumed it was the full SDK. It was not. The news from Valve from that update:

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and SDK Update
November 30, 2004, 8:05 pm · valve
A Half-Life 2 update has been released via Steam. Please restart Steam to apply the update.

Included in this update:

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

* New multiplayer game featuring physics simulation system

Half-Life 2/Source SDK

* Includes game code needed to create Half-Life 2/Source MODs

* Ability to edit Half-Life 2 maps

* Maya model exporter

* 3d Studio Max model exporter source code

* Sample MOD with vehicles

Furthermore, I got a reply about faceposer that said "I think they must still be in testing. I'm sure we'll release Faceposer
shortly, I need to talk to the team and find out what the holdup is."

I read somewhere that Face Poser should be out next week...

well i guess it's not face poser then but when you open up the model viewer you can click on a tab that brings you to facial animation sliders.. i don't know how to keyframe them but you can control all aspects of the face..

That's just for viewing models. It doesn't actualyl allow you to create anything.

Face Poser is actually much more advanced than that, from what I've read from certain other websites not to be named.

Besides creating and keying up the facial expressions and lip syncing, you can create cues for npcs to travel to certain spots on the map, look at objects or other people, etc.

Looks very full featured.

well that sounds great! in fact i'm very interested in movie making aka machinima. Woo Hoo!

so are many of us... rabidjester is leader of zero point films, im leader of prospekt films, and there are several other Source film teams here, pendragon's got one and tfg occasionally recruits here.

I'm just hoping some of the cut models are being bundled into the next week.

Thanks for the plug! :cheers:

I am working on a short piece right now that I hope to release some time in the next two weeks, depending on when we get Faceposer.

right on!
i was just reading about this point entity which you may have seen but is something us machinima people will surely be using:
"scripted_sequence"
description:
Grabs an NPC and makes them play a specified set of animations. The NPC can be told to move to the scripted sequence position or can be told to play the script wherever they currently are. Multiple scripted sequences of the same name will frame-synchronize in the action animation once all the actors have moved to position. This allows tight interaction between actors (one actor grabbing another, hitting them, etc.)
you can find more info on the HL2world wiki..

Faceposer is key to my project, as i'm movie making as well. right now its basically myself, my concept artist and a sound guy. still writing te project and such. i actually gotta get a decent website put together here... sigh.

so, yea. can;t wait for faceposer. first release from Skyfire Studios? i think i'll screw around and make a little poker game.
