Face shader glitch

This happened after the most recent update. When I play HL2, the npc's faces have like a pinstripe shadow overlay on their faces. If anyone could find a way to fix this, that would be great. Here's some pics.


My specs are:
AMD 2.1 ghz
Radeon 9600 256mb
1024 mb of ram

People have fixed that by updating their video card drivers. Do you have the latest ones?
