Fading Speakers

So recently my speakers have been doing something funny. If my volume is too low, my sounds gets quieter until it's completely silent. The second I change my volume on the speakers, it quickly returns to the level of volume it should be at. If I keep them semi loud, it doesn't fad though.

Why it do that?!

It might have something to do with... Your soundcard. Specs? Oh, and 7 posts away from 3000, you are!!

Could it be my power supply? it's too dark for me to take a look right now, but i'll look tomorrow

My speakers suck too, trying to change the volume is like tuning a radio, it'll randomly fluctuate as you twist the knob and you have to search for a sweet spot to be able to hear anything. Also, only one works, of the two. It's understandable, though, since I think they're nearly as old as I am.
