'Failed to contact key server'

So, I just bought Call of Duty 4, and after downloading it and blahblah that's what I get. Both SP and MP do it. I tried restarting steam, deleting clientregistry.blob,[lol, blob.] and closing and opening the ports on mah firewall, but it still does it. Steam support doesn't help at all and the steam forums are just whining. Heeeeeeeeelp?

Reinstall CoD4?
Restart comp?
Reinstall Windows?
Reformat HDD?

I'm afraid to restart my comp because it always comes dangerously close to dying on me. One time it made beeeeeping noises and kept making the high pitched beeeeeping and wouldn't turn off. And when I turned it off and on it did it again. I turned it off and on, and then it worked... DONT DIE ON ME AGAIN!

Sounds like it's not even in a fit state to run CoD4.

I've played the demo, the computer works fine. It just sort of dies when trunned off.. I think it's the fan.

Okay, It works now, it was likely Steam's fault. Something to do with the server, I guess. But, OF COURSE, it works just as I'm about to leave the computer. -sigh-
