Failed to load launcher

Hey im having trouble with HL2 starting now.. i get a pop-up saying "Failed to load the launcher DLL: The specific procedure could not be found".... any1 know what to do?

Yea i have the same prob earlier,all u've got to do is download steam and make sure its updated..www.steampowered.com .If u have steam oredy and its updated...make sure u access the setup file in ur Valve folder which compresses the HL2 files..g luck...

k nvm.. i just deleted my half-life2 folder and let steam re-download it.. works now, musta screwed around with settings too much

umm, i got the same problem and im not too keen on reinstalling hl2 cuz i did that about 20+ times before. any fixes ?

i didnt re-install hl2.. all i did was delete the "half-life2" folder.. dont delete all the .gcf files.. on broadband it took me bout 10 mins or so to do it
