When I try and play the game (which WAS working fine before), i now get this error message:

Failed to load the launcher DLL:
The Specified Procedure could not be found

What the hell is going on? I've had the error ever since shortly after the hl2:mp update.

I've removed hl2 and steam from my machine and then reinstalled from my dvd and it still happens.

The DVD spins up, then theres a 5 second pause, and then the "Launcher Error" box comes up.

Can someone PLEASE help me!

I had this and did exactly as you have plus deleted all registry entries for valve. Reinstall after this and all should be back to normal

BTW don't install Half life2 DM as this seems to cause the problem for me anyway.

What worked for me was copying all the files from /half-life2/bin/ to /half-life2/. Hope that helps anyone.
