I just purchased the Orange Box but have run into a problem whereby I can't seem to run any Source games at all. This is new as I had been playing them just a few months ago. When I try to load HL2, Ep 1, GarrysMod, etc, it gets as far as the title screen, but when I try to start a new game it cuts back to Windows with the error message "Failed to lock index buffer in CMeshDX8::LockIndexBuffer"
Pentium D 2.8 Ghz
GeForce 6200SE
1GHz RAM

I updated my graphics drivers to see if that was the problem but there was no effect. I checked the Steampowered support site but I am neither minimising the window nor do I have an ATI graphics card. I Googled the problem and found mention of there being a bug that can cause a problem if the screen resolution is different to the game res. I changed them so they were both the same and rather than getting the error message, starting a new game forces the computer to restart!
Does anyone have any suggestions?
