Hi all, I have this dam problem with CS:source. My screen resolution is always set to 1280 by 1024 pixels but i like to play cs in 1024 by 768.

Ok when i start, in my current resolution, CS:source i get this Video mode warning window "Failed to set video mode - resetting to defaults" and then i get Video - safe mode fallback "Failed to set video mode - falling back to safe mode settings" and source starts up in windowed mode in 640 by 480.

But when I resize my screen resolution to 1024 by 768 and start cs:source it starts up fine no problems.

I had a FX5600XT card but I have now X800XT, same problem on both cards.

Please help. (I dont like always resizing my desktop) :(

Yeah, starts up fine for me if it's in 1280x1024.
Video stress test gives 64 fps, which isn't bad but I can notice the difference...

Oh well, lets see what Valve come up with...

Ok I just found out the problem my self. I was using ReForce and when i unlocked the ReForce lock every things worked out great.

This worked for me, download nHancer and delete the half life 2 profile, it works

Yeah, necromancy at work. As its been done already, I'm getting the same error just after installing the new Nvidia drivers (77.something's?), on a GeForce 4 MMX. I'll try nHancer later.
