Fall of Liberty is set in an alternate history that sees famed prime minister Winston Churchill die in 1936--three years prior to the outbreak of World War II. Without his steadfast leadership, the Nazis overwhelm Europe and occupy Great Britain. Bolstered by its success, the German war machine then extends its reach across the Atlantic and invades the United States in 1951, occupying Washington DC and threatening Manhattan with nuclear attack.

This looks interesting. As does "Resistance: Fall of Man," which was mentioned in the article.
 
ZOMG! Nazis! Where is Indiana Jones when you need him?

It'll probubly just be freedom fighters but with Nazis instead of commies taking over the US.
 
I'm still waiting for a singleplayer WW2 game where you play as the Germans.
 
I love Alternate History! I hope this game is good.

Is the Japanese Empire going to play a role in this game as well? I hope we get to see the Aircraft Carrier submarine they made during WWII.
 
I want a game where you play as the Nazis.
 
I'm senseing a lot of pent up facism in this thread (joke! I'd quite like to see a game where you play as the Axis too!)

It sound crap. Where is the hype from , any SS , and videos?!

It looks like they said to themselves "hey , there are too many WW2 game set during , well , WW2 , so let's bring to other settings and that way people won't call us boring ,talentless and lazy".

Common , alternate history? did game designers hit a rock bottom and can't make a game from the ground up , create a world of their own with original story and game design? so much they need to result to alternate history so they can keep milk the WW2 franchise but now with feeling a little better with it?

That's just sad.
 
A Nazi has already been put in the white house, so this might be a future prediction game.

The game was just ****ing announced, how about you wait a little before screenshots and videos are released before judging it to be crap.

Umm, the concept is something that not many other companies would dare do, to put the Nazi's in control of the US, they are using WWII as a base, but they are creating a totally new world inside of it, read this from the CEO of the dev. team

"Spark is very excited to be working with Codemasters to bring to life a original gaming experience that will dramatize what might have happened if history had taken a different course," said Craig Allen, CEO of Spark Unlimited. "We share a desire to immerse players in an incredible and intensely realistic vision of an alternative world history that will uniquely define Fall of Liberty in the FPS genre. Codemasters is providing Spark the opportunity to present something radically different than typical WWII scenarios, as the player is not cast as a liberator of Europe but as a defender of freedom in enemy-occupied America."

Same can be said about judging it to be good, like many in the thread seem to be doing. Alternate histories aren't a new concept. I'll wait till we know something about the game itself before I judge it.

But the potentially highly controversial setting of the game is also well worth talking about :)
 
I think it's an interesting concept that could go either way being bad or good. I just don't think you should dismiss it as crap because they've decided to make an alternative history game.
 
I'm sick of the WWII games where you can't play the Nazi's...it's like they are afraid of moms and dads cracking down, "WE DON'T WANT OUR KID TO BE A NAZI!"
 
maybe you could be a non-nazi jew in the wermacht who has to hide his identity from his nazi overleaders.
 
Closest I got to a good game set through a German soldiers eyes was the skirmish missions in BiA: Earned in Blood. They were good. Really well done, too, with everything up to scratch and authentic from the weapons right down to the language/orders/commands, etc. Good fun.
 
You could play as nazis in at least two games I can think of. Only thing is, I can't remember which ones they are because... they're all the same :/

Not counting DoD. <3s DoD.

Why am i negative? Why are you "hyped" if you seen no media from the game?!
I'm sick of WW2 games , and this game is the same. The team of the game was behind CoD: Finest Hour which wasn't the finest game i played , to say the least.
They have to show me otherwise , that their game is at least worthy of attention.
What new concept , alternate history has been done before in FPS and it's done right now with the PS3 FPS game , so no , i'm not impressed.
 
Red Alert? Yes i know it was soviet in Red Alert series but still...

I like the story tho, i hope it will be good.

I actually would find such a thing to be very powerful if done right.

Of course, I doubt the medium is yet up to producing such a thing without having "BONUS KILL: 10000 POINTS" up on your screen. Maybe some time in the future.
Not saying I'd want the Nazis painted in a more positive light. I would just find the exploration of that dark side of humanity very interesting.
 
So basically it's a game version of The Man in the High Castle...

basicly you are complaining that the game could POSSIBLY BE INNOVATIVE AND ORIGINAL ?!?!?!?! OH NOEZZ¬!!¬!!111one

I know i put a fair bit of hype into it, but this seems like a nice innovative WWII game, better than fighting in Normandy...yet again

I'd like to see a Stern'y post here :D
 
I don't know , to me it sounds just another way to use the WW2. The game may very well turn to be better than all those WW2 shooters but right now there's no reason hyping it. There's barely media to get hyped about and I refuse to join to the hype every other game gets for just being announced.

Like I said , they need to show us what they got. I just don't feel good about this game.
