Ok i followed tutorials on displacement maps and got a terrain sorted, i put a brush under it and theres no leaks in the sides. However i set my player start point to be on top of the terrain and when i start i fall right through it to the brush below. I read somewhere that displacement maps arent solid but that doesn't help me fix the problem. Anyone know how to?

That happened to me, I just moved the player start up a little bit (it had looked like it was above the ground but apparantly wasn't properly)

worked fine from then on.

Ok thx ill try that

EDIT: Yeah that works, its wierd though, on the 3D view it shows the playerstart as being above the terrain, yet in the other views its actually inside it....something messed up during the displacement?

no not really messed up.. Just I'm guessing to keep things from crawling in the other displays it simply shows the regular brush shape rather than showing the displacement effect (would make selecting the right thing more difficult then too) What you probably did was simply make some of the ground higher and some lower. It's nothing bad though, just something to watch out for.
