Just finished it a while ago, took me quite a while, definatley the longest DLC I've played in a long time. Good fun, definatley a welcome change from Fallout 3's regular gameplay style. Instead of being able to pick up almost any item in the world, you are limited to just weapons and ammo. Aid is found in containers etc which replace Stimpacks for the 4 new quests.

After you finish the final quest 'Operation: Anchorage', you recieve ALOT of weaponary, including brand new - and powerful Armour from the war as well as a new electric sword, Gauss Rifle and some other new stuff as well as original things from the game such as Missle Launchers and Flamers - Including alot of ammo.

Its a pretty cool new storyline, released today, I suggest you go either buy it or download it, depending what format you have it on. Highly recommended - 9/10 :D

I have to admit I dont understand this.

For the hardcore, me not included, that have pretty much explored every crevace, toilet and inch of the wasteland and DC that is Fallout 3, what is the incentive to get this content?

Yes its an extra 4-5 hours of content and expands the story a bit, but all the new gear and items and weapons etc can be used back in the normal game afterward...why would you want it if youve already 'finished' the normal game? Whats the incentive to take this gear back with you if youve already explored the normal game to death??

For those that havent finished it and the side quests in the normal game, yeah maybe theres an incentive there, I just dont see the point of it in an open world game. Do you just.***n around killing respawned creatures/NPCs with your hawt new gear?

Already finished it. It's just a series of quests really. There is nothing that special here and nothing PS3 owners should lose sleep over.

7/10

i haven't played this yet but, to be honest, i'm looking forward to the extended main quest DLC alot more (march?)

Couldn't agree more. Fallout 3's failing is that when the (way too short) main quest is done, that's it, game over. There is no way to just go back to play extra content without starting from scratch or loading a saved game, which would both be pointless anyway, as when you finish the DLC, what do you do then? would anyone really want to play the main quest all over again to the same half assed conclusion?

Way to miss the point of DLC, Bethesda.

It seems there are alot of problems going on right now concerning purchasing it.

I've also got the strange problem of my gamerscore not updating. I got all of the achievements for the DLC but my gamerscore is staying at what it was before I had downloaded the DLC :|

Im going to wait for all the DLC to be packed into a nice sweet retail box!

You could just make a save before the final quest and continue with the rest of the game from that save. I did this, along with any other people with common sense.

Or you can download the mod that lets you play the game after the main quest, but that is of course only for the PC version.

I didn't even get to all the content that was already there ... I see no reason to pay for more when there's plenty available already that I don't really want to bother ****ing with :p .

I liked the game well enough, but it got old ... I finished it, and now it's done.

I'm sorry but I neglected to read my tarot cards before playing. By the time I realised it was the last quest, it was the cocking last quest. Of course I did save it just before opening 'that' airlock, but why would you just stop there and go wandering around the wasteland that you have covered a hundred times already? what is the point of getting extra weapons and kit in add-ons that you aren't going to actually need to finish the game?

I'm pretty sure not everyone wandered the wasteland a 100 times or did everything you could do before doing the final quest. Hell, I didn't, so when I finished the main story I loaded my save before the end and then carried on with the rest of the game.

so can anyone confirm/deny wether I can play the DLC at any point in the game. I havent finished (lvl 14, just on the way to vault 112 to find my father) ) yet and would love some of the cool new weapons/armor ..tired of my tired talon combat armor

You can do it at any point in the game IF it doesn't **** up your saves. It did that for me, along with replacing EVERY face texture with caucasians. It's rather amusing.

Anywhoo, I finished it.

PROS:

* T-51b PROPERLY introduced.
* Character of Constantine Chase (bar the voice writing)
* Lore-wise, fits well with Fo1 and 2. It's far, far superior to Fallout 3 in this aspect.
* Great art direction and design
* Crimson Dragoons and the Hei Gui stealth armour (even if it's a bit too MGSque for my tastes)
* Pre-war weapons. Winterized Combat Armour and Chinese Jumpsuits.
* Insight into how US Army looked before the war
* Chinese Gauss Rifle
* Fun. It's not CoD, but it does it's a pretty decent hack job.
* Pretty. Just that.
* Chimera.

CONS:

* Insanely annoying to install.
* Resets character in saves, ****s up character faces
* HORRIBLE voice acting. Sibley made my ears bleed, McGraw caused ear hernia and Chase popped a white hot rebar inside them. In comparison, Fo3's voice actors look like professional stage performers with decades of experience.
* Shit-for-brains-AI. Again.
* Insanely linear.
* No environmental shadows.
* Plotline's shit. Absolute shit. What, I finish the simulation and magically know the access code to the store room? My PIP-Boy's needed to play the sim, even though there's no access port to be seen anywhere, nor does it make a speck of sense? A shame, really, because any half-decent writer could provide a much more plausible explanation.
* Did I mention horrid voice acting?
* Stiff, unrealistic animations.
* ****ing short. Two hours at best - wonder where the promised "four to six hours" went?
* Ammo and health dispensers.
* Emphasis on combat, the weakest, most repetitive part of Fo3.

In the end, it's really not worth the ten bucks. Five, maybe. But not ten.

I rate it as 3/5 - a potentially good idea, ruined by poor execution. As usual.

So, it's all just a simulation that can kill you? What is your motivation from going in there in the first place?
Do you need to reload or play from the mod that let's you continue after main quest or does it do anything to fix that?

Reload, or use the Freeplay After MQ Mod.

Or wait like a sore loser and shell out another 10 $ on half-arsed DLC that benevolently patches it.

They're going to open up the ending in the third batch of DLC, which is a couple of months away I think.

Have you even played the Oblivion DLC? Shivering Isles is definitely the longest DLC I've ever played.
Which was also a boxed expansion, not to mention a 2400 point download (three times what this costs).

Not trying to "defend" it or whatever, just saying. Still yet to even finish F3's main quest.

I'm wondering if they're actually just going to allow you to continue if you let the girl sack herself or add a new ending altogether. And there's Fawkes too. Maybe Charon too since ghouls get healed by it.
Or you know, take radx, go in, push buttons, go back out -_-

I'm considering buying the DLC, though I haven't played FO3 very much since I got it. I should probably start now.
