Fallout 3 GOTY crashes before anything truly loads....

I'm not sure if this a Steam problem or a Fallout problem, but when I go to load it, the screen goes black and then I get the box from Windows telling me the game crashed. I've got no real idea what to do. I've installed K-Lite codec and some things I've found on Google, but no go.

System specs:

Win7 x64
E8600 @ 3.00 GHZ
8800GT
4 gig ram

Did you own the game before or have it installed before? As my Oblivion did the same, the reason was old save and config files. As standard they're under My Documents/My Games/Fallout3. Just either delete them all or cut them to somewhere else and start the game. It'll set itself up as default.

I have never had it installed on this system. I will try deleting them, though!

*EDIT* Wtf, it works in windowed mode? Hmmm.
