Hoally damn, what have I been missing ? I had to check out what the buzz was all about, so I d.loaded a few episodes and the humour is just great, it's just like a much better simpsons. The jokes a freaking halarious. How long has the chow been on tv ?

Family Guy came on the air a lonngggg time ago... like 6 or so years and went for 3 very sporadic seasons. Fox kept putting it up against "Must See TV" on Thursday evenings and kept throwing it in various timeslots with no announcements. I couldn't even find the show when I tried. Obviously ratings fell when nobody could actually find the show to watch it and it was axed.

Then the dvd sets came out and millions of people bought them. Popularity exploded just from the original followers spreading the word about Family Guy and the dvd sets have hit record sales numbers.

Then we started to see re-runs of Family Guy on various stations. Cartoon Network, TBS, then finally Fox (after they announced the return of Family Guy). These networks had such high ratings on the re runs that Fox decided to look at the sales figures and ratings and decide to give Family Guy another shot.

This is the only show to come back to life after having been cancelled (let alone 3 years later) just based on re-runs and dvd sales.
