A baby died when a family of 12 leapt from their second floor balcony in Paris claiming they were fleeing the devil.

Eight more were injured, some seriously, in the tragedy when they jumped 20ft into a car park in Paris suburb of La Verriere.

The baffling incident occurred when a wife woke to see her husband moving about naked in the room, police said.

She began screaming 'it's the devil! it's the devil!', and the man ran into the other room where 11 others adults and children were watching television. One woman grabbed a knife and stabbed the man before others pushed him out through the front door.

When the man forced his way back in, they all began screamed in terror and leapt from the balcony screaming 'Jesus! Jesus!'

The naked man also leapt from the balcony, detectives said

I love that the guy they thought was satan; the naked father, jumped out the window after the other people had jumped to get away from him "maybe I am satan!"
 
Group family therapy should be fun.

That sounds like it would have been hilarious to watch. Especially the part where the father jumps out the window after them.

This is just weird as ****. I feel like there's some major element to this story that we aren't privy to. LOL @ the dude jumping out after them.

Why was the husband even naked? And how could the wife have mistaken her husband to be the devil if she had probably known him for years? Strange.

Well it'd be awkward to wake up to a naked man.... but if it's your husband I'd think you'd recognize him. Maybe think he's a zombie or somthing... but not the devil. Sad that a baby died because of crazy people... but it is funny that the guy jumped out the window too. Maybe he was like "OH SHIT THE DEVIL'S HERE!?"
 
That's... peculiar.

I don't think I'd force my way back into the apartment if a family member stabbed me with a knife, while everyone was pushing me out the door yelling "satan!".
 
Why was the husband running around naked? Why were so many relatives present in the apartment? Why did they all go batshit insane?

Honestly this whole thing is so absurd, it sounds like it was pulled out of a weird dream.
 
I find the lack of puns disturbing, on a story like this.

It's strange how the death of the baby seems to be the least relevant element of this story.
 
The baby was probably the real Satan, so it all worked out in the end.

They make it sound like there was actually an intruder or something. I guess they weren't important enough for any of them to be named.

I mean, maybe this wasn't your typical nuclear family and it was people who had mental problems? I mean, obviously some of them had mental problems.

Of all the places for the devil to be, why would he be in Paris? I mean, that place is already full of sin!



Poor baby... seriously. What a tragedy.

Wife and husband were in the room, and the husband ran into the other room where 11 other family members were watching TV? Wouldn't that make it a family of 13?

When one person in your family is about to stab another, you run away from the one who is about to be stabbed instead?

I don't even know what to say.
 
Naked man runs into TV room with 11 other family members watching TV. Man is stabbed by woman, everyone jumps out of window, including a baby and the man who presumably kicked open a locked door.
 
Satan (and demons in general) takes on many different forms, considering that he is not a physical-bound being like us.

Elder Paisios claimed that if a demon of any kind showed it's true form in the public eye, anyone who saw it would die or lose their mind from the sheer sight of it.
 
That's certainly not something you hear everyday.
 
I saw Satan once.
But after giving me a single glance he jumped out of the window...
