i spent all day trying to make my pc work and putting the upgrades in to find out it sucks.
i felt that i needed a step up from the 1.2ghz athlon xp. with a geforce 4 mx440.

i upgraded to a 3ghz pentium 4 with a gma900 integrated graphics chip and a intel G915GAG chipset mobo. i figured the integrated graphics chip will do me for 3 weeks till i get a BFG geforce 6600 GT, seeing as the gma900 is a lot better than the geforce 4 mx 440 even tho its integrated...

right so the pc is running incredibly slow.... (css runs at 4fps, even with my old pc it ran at like 30-40ish) i tried upgrading the graphics and audio drivers too.
dont know what to do.

wow u should be running at about 60-80 fps with that on my computer it shares 32mb of ram u might want to c if it is or if u disabled the intigrated

shares 32mb ram? i thought it shared up to 128 mb. i cant have disabled it or css wouldnt run at all right?

anyway ive just tried playing css at the LOWEST settings in 640 X 480 resolution to get 9fps...........

no it will run fine but if u have a setting in the bios that says something about shared ram on it turn it to the lowest

Integrated video sucks. I tried to run CS:S on a Intel integrated video chip and it ran at like 2fps (3Ghz computer).

Just hold on till you get your card...

You'll be better off by putting the GF4 into your new computer until you get your new card. I believe a GF2 would still do better than an that IGP.

Bottom line is, all IGP's are crap for gaming (apart from Solitaire) since they're made for computers that'll only be used for word processing and web browsing.

yeh I agree with sanada, if your motherboard has an agp slot, put your mx440 back in again.

no the integrated chip is supposed to run much better than the geforce. last night i had css running at 50 fps on medium settings which was good. unfortuantly somethings happened and now ive gone back to 2fps :S heellpp. turning shared RAM to lowest will make things worse!!
ive seeen reviews of the gma 900 running UT2004 on highest settings at 40fps

but yes u wont get very good fps with intigrated i have a sismirage 2 and it can do ps1.3 but it still sux even though it was using 128mb shared ram

i have 1 gb of ram. i KNOW it works well but i have no idea why it stopped working all of a sudden.

reasons to hate the chipset: graphics has ****ed up again, 2fps in css... sound has stopped working with microphone (need it for DOD matches. BIOS will not update because it doesnt think i have an intel board . i get errors on startup. boot time takes ages now. windows media player doesnt work. explorer keeps crashing when i go into control panel. and its a pain in the ass.
