Far Cry 1.2 Patch Recalled

Yes folks it's a day of infamy for those elite Germans at CryTek...the Far Cry 1.2 patch has been recalled due to "unexpected behaviour on specific hardware configurations." No word on when a patched version of the patch will become available.
 
Hahahaha, wernt the mod tools supposed to come with that patch too. rofl

They just lost their Triple A game developer status with this one.
 
And it's problems with ATI cards... random crashes...


my thoughts: AFAIK, they also included optimizations (no cheats mind you, jsut better code) for the ps/vs2.0 codepath to make please the majority of gamers who don't have an sm3.0 card to take adavntage of the speef offered by that. But then, like the craptacular game they made, they couldn't do it right. thus F***ing everyone over.

/me has no problems with 1.2

Although, I do find it funny that it seems they didn't bugtest their patch on anything but nVidia hardware..
 
shit, i installed it last night ...damn it...oh well wont be playing that anytime soon

I have an Nvidia FX5600 and the game crashed while loading a map, because it couldn't find the forklift model or something. :hmph:

It looks like they hardly tested the patch at all because they were too eager to add all the new stuff.
 
I had a butt load of problems with 1.2, I got so pissed with it yesterday that I ditched both Far cry and all my save games in the recycle bin. So much for triple A dev.
 
hmm.. gee i dunno.. Far Cry more and more looks like a game that ain't worth the cash.. good thing i didn't purchase it :p
 
/me purchased it :)

$24 off eBay about a month and a half ago. Thai version :) Manual and box are in Thai. Thankfully, the game installs in English and the CDKey works.

sorry buddy.. but with so many good titles coming out in the months ahead.. i can't be bothered to waste my money on a game where the devs can't even get a patch done right.. :|

Far Cry fans can defend the devs as much as they want...but this patch release stuff is just an indication of how long this game can/will last.. we'll see :p
 
I'm not exactly a FC fan. I haven't even beaten it.. just saying, I bought it. I'm not disappointed with my purchase, as if the SDK ever comes out, there could be some very nice mods for FC.

However, at this rate, Crytek will never get their SDK out, and I'll be playing HL2 mods long before the first FC mod
 
Ahh that is comical. All the cards except the 6800 showed a performance decrease with the 1.2 patch. People without 6800 cards actually updated to 1.2? I guess there were other improvements not related to graphics.

This is exactly what Crytek deserves for ditching the ATI users. This incident proves that they really care nothing about the gamers, they only want to impress people with their shitty plastic engine. Sure, the games looks great, but that's all it is at this point...
 
I've been playing far cry on my Ati card for weeks and i downloaded the patch. It works fine. I havent encountered any random crashs *crosses fingers*. The only thing is, what ever happened to the quicksave?

Exactly what I was wondering. Unless it's a bind they forgot to add to the control setup menu
 
The quicksave is the only reason i wanted the patch but im hopeing for it in the patch v.2 and a half
 
What do consoles have to do with the topic at hand?
 
EA, I assume, is what he's referring to... since they make a lot of the console stuff... but they also have The Sims... ;) (by the way, is Maxis part of them now or... ? I saw someone mention that The Sims was EA earlier, and I'm wondering...)

God they are stupid... barely anyone has a ****ing 6800. They're not just shafting ATI users, they're decreasing performance for anyone who doesn't want to spend $500 on a video card.

oh well doom 3 is right around the corner no time to weep.
