Sweet Jesus, it doesn't even look that great... but it is an open world so I guess it's to be expected.

I'm good, wasnt too worried. Still, probably wont be able to play above Medium settings.

Well, I'm going to have to rebuild my computer, but that's OK. I've been expecting to do this for a while. My processor and motherboard is about 3-4 years old now.
I have enough RAM and video power but my CPU just doesn't cut it.

Still, my gaming boner for this one hasn't died yet. Looks pretty good.

Those spec's do look hellish. The problem with just meeting the minimum requirements for this game is that much of it is based on the looks, and if you have to settle for everything on bare minimum then you're not getting the full enjoyment out of this title.

My 6800 has finally become a mininum spec gfx card :(

I guess its done well, gonna have to scrape some funds together finally.

/me laughs at everyone who was gloating that this would have a brilliantly scalable/optimised engine compared to Crysis.

Honestly, those recommended specs don't look bad at all but we all know that you have to take recommended as minimum with games these days. Besides, Crytek makes tech demos, not video games, so it's not surprising.

Thus I'm surprised that it will run on an X360.

Crytek has nothing to do with Far Cry 2.

Looks like I'm set!

Formerly a PC snob, I'm now transitioning to a console snob. Keeping up with PC specs is ridiculous these days. Especially since I could get another PS3 for the price of a median gfx card alone, not to mention everything else required. When my once mighty PC died an inhonorable death a few months ago I basically decided my PC gaming time died with it.

*looks at PS3 box... looks at Far Cry 2 specs....*

Looks like I'm all set.

I am getting new system by the end of october,

It's funny when that there's people complaining that they can't run it on high and are instead going to play on consoles that will run the game at medium-low.

I honestly don't find these specs too bad.

Those specs are quire fair for a Ubisoft game. They tend to try to avoid putting much effort into PC optimizations, lets not forget Assassin's Creed original specs.

What's so bad about these? The recommended spec is a PC of like 2 years ago. Only thing that surprises me is how demanding new games are of graphics memory, that 256 MB has become the minimum whereas in the past the amount of memory wasn't important at all.

It is, because it runs fine on an Xbox 360.

Recommended
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Family, AMD 64 X2 5200+, AMD Phenom or better
RAM: 2 GB
Video card: NVidia 8600 GTS or better, ATI X1900 or better, 512 Mb of graphic memory

Those components total will cost you no more than $150-$200 if you shop at the right places. I honestly don't see what the big deal is. Seems quite reasonable for a modern game that promises as much as Far Cry 2 does. As for the minimum specs, the hardware is nearly 4 years old. You can't expect to be able to play new games without having to upgrade every few years. It's the same with a console. I think many games have been more than generous with their requirements.

Glad I just picked up a Radeon HD 4870 for the oncoming storm of Stalker: Clear Sky, Far Cry 2 and Warhammer Online. Gonna be a good year.

I'm surprised the majority of people here are shocked. The game looks pretty damn good, and considering the gameplay and open-ended nature, this was expected.

My 2+ year old PC owns the minimum system requirements, and almost reaches the recommended requirements, I'd easily be able to play it on medium right now. (Athlon 3800 x2 @ 1.45ghz, 7900GS @600/1600, 2GB ram)

I'll be upgrading to a 512mb 8800gt within the next month, they're $120-140 on newegg right now. And maybe a cheap s939 Athlon/Opteron that's around 2ghz or that I can overclock to 2ghz.

Tiger Direct has an XFX 8800GT for $110 after rebate.

My computer beats the shit out of those recommended specs.

/me flexes my computer muscles

My computer is above the recommended specs, but does not beat the shit out of them.

Ive got like double of everything they recommend. Quad-core cpu 4 gigs of ram and a 4850. Whoo!

Dual-core cpu 2 gigs of ram and a 8800gt. Whoo!

Wouldn't continue your celebrations too much. I have a similar system to the above, but I'm waiting for actual benchmarks before I make a final decision on where I'm gonna be playing this. Recommended could easily mean "Recommended for Medium", as it has done many times in similar situations in the past.

I doubt it'll be any worse than Crysis, which is perfectly playable at higher settings with an 8800GT.

Yeah, that's the one thing that gives me hope. Crysis seems to be the game where you can think "Well, if this plays..." when trying to ascertain performance. I also want to see if the rumours saying the console versions are running medium graphics are true. So far this is purely community speculation as there has been no word of this at all from Ubisoft, who in fact claim the opposite. It's gonna be tough to choose.

Got a 360, but it looks like I game I'd much rather play on PC. Damnit, I wish I could afford that upgrade sooner rather than later...
