Far Cry to be movie?

An adaptation of the first-person-shooter video game where Jack Carver, a retired ocean patrol cop who...
GASP! He was trained as special forces I thought! And he retired an boated people round the tropics.

OOOO! Mutated monkeys and mutated people-monkeys to fight!

It could work quite well as an action entertainment film if they did it right...I'd watch it.

I think they'd have to make it as tongue-in-cheek as the game is. With an appropriate level of silliness it could be worth the money.

"I'M GONNA BITE YOUR ASS!!!"

That has to be in the movie, if it's not this movie will fail.

Plus Will Smith needs to be in it somewhere.
and Hugo Weaving

very old news if you ever visit the farcry forums on ubisoft, but its gonna tank HARDCORE if its still being directed by that fool who did "House of the Dead"

edit: yeah
his name is Uwe Boll.. and yeah guaranteed stinker.

I dont know The Rock isnt exactly the best choice for a tongue in cheek movie ...he has 2 expressions in his acting repertoire: angry and slightly less angry

they need someone like brendan fraser who can actually act, has enough of a build to make an action film and is actually funny

they need to stop casting big jocks for action movies ...hasnt anyone learned from the success of The Bourne Identity? ..Matt damon was great for the part despite looking like your kid brother

Have you seen any of the Rock's more recent stuff? Hes actually a pretty damn good actor. See The Rundown as a good example...he punches people, but actually has a good personality. I think he a good choice for the role, since he isn't a very serious actor.

haha I'M GONNA SHOOT YOU IN THE FACE

i would prefer it as a film rather than a game

I'll have to take your word for it ...he's not as offensive as Steven segal or jean claude van damme so I'l have to reserve my judgement til I actually see the movie

I did like him in the Mummy or was it Scorpian king? I dont remember which

The Scorpian King was his largest role...and yeah that had him in his stereo-typical jock role, so there wasn't much to the character. Think about it though....he was a good wrestler. All good wrestlers where good character actors by definition.

I have to concur.. The Rock is becoming a good actor, the Rundown and Walking Tall were excellent.

yah, but... In imdb read user comments about the director.... and his previous performance...

This will not be good, I'm 80% sure of that...

agreed, brendan fraser would be a good choice. I loved the Mummy films, thought he was perfect for them. He'd be the only thing barable in a Far Cry movie.. unless they had whatsherface from the Mummy films too, then it would be perfect :D:D:D

I don't think Breden Frasier is beefy enough. :D
He could probably pull it off too though.

ya ..but remember Keanu reaves in Bill and Ted's excellent adventure? the next film he did was Point Break ...he looked like he gained 100 pounds of muscle for that movie

the more I think about it the more the Rock makes sense

I'll keep saying this...
The Rock may be good (depending on your opinion), but the director Uwe Boll will most likely rip this movie to shreds and give us 1/5 of the pieces.

It looks like if from the evidence, but you never know sometimes.
Peter Jackson anyone?

lol, peter jackson directs decent movies, not game based ones that are likely doomed to fail like Tomb Raider and AvP

The one cryvision goggles to rule them all?

What about this guy?

His name is Matthew Davis and he was in such movies as Tigerland and...uh, Legally Blonde. He just needs to bulk up a bit.

If we want someone to look like Jack Carver, he is our closest match, otherwise I think the Rock or Brendan Fraser will do just fine.

I meant in the sense that Peter Jackson came from a background of questionable horror movies, and out of thin air busted out a masterpiece.

^^ If there is truly justice in this world Billy Baldwin will never act again....

Who the hell is Billy Baldwin? That him in the previous pic? I've only heard of his name once before, but I thought it was in reference to Alec.

Anyway I still think Matthew Davis looks the most like him. I wounder if he can do the over-the-top vioce as well?

I can just imagine it now, cheesy acting with all the classic "one-liners" from the game.

"I'm gonna lay a smackdown on ya"
"Screw you buddy"
"You want more of this? I've GOT more of this"
"You ARE Dead"

Hehe...but with Uwe Boll? Hell no.

Wow Far Cry movie. All these games movies.. Cant wait.

Wow Deus Ex!

And it's written by the guy who worked on Alien 3.

What's with this explosion of Games to Movies these days?

The same thing that happened with Marvel Comics. Hollywood ran out of original ideas a long time ago, so they're constantly looking for a genre (right word?) to make more $$$ from.

Expect to see a lot of games-to-movies in the near future.

AvP is a good example of videogame-to-movie.... of course don't confuse "good example" with "good movie". :p
