Yes it seems those fascists have reared their heads again. But this time they are not targeting the internet. But the Achilles heel of teenagers, Alcohol.

Anybody caught carrying opened liquor in a public place would be breaking the ban including, for example, families enjoying a tipple during a picnic on the beach.

My god, it is disgusting to see the civil liberties of drinkers is breached this way.

It is supported by police who say a consistent city-wide policy would aid enforcement. Police also have the power to search any vehicle entering a liquor ban zone.

Of course, the agents of fascists will not say otherwise.

The city-wide ban proposal came after Newtown residents called for a ban in their suburb to curb an explosion of public drinking.

it seems they have successfully brainwashed the populus into thinking that this ban is actually good for them.

Hl2.net outrage, it is time to mobilize, with an exaggerated sense of outrage at this news, we shall bring down the fascists.

I said BOOHOO. also teens are not allowed to drink in my neck of the woods so they shouldnt be drunk and if they are it's because their parents are on welfare and are most likely alcoholics themselves

if i cant drink in public than neither can you

*takes beer from new zealander

..is that your first REAL beer, americano?

<runs>

just because i occasionally have a bud light it doesn't give you the right to tarnish my manliness. i usually drink pure alcohol out of a dead bird. no big deal.

it better be a bald eagle or something endangered

bud light? what's the use of having light beer when the regular stuff is already light?

We have drive through alcohol shops here, and you can have an alcoholic drink in your car so long as it has a lid. If you drink from a straw its still legal apparently.

ITT New Zealanders crying about laws that should all ready be placed in.

**** that, man. I want to be able to walk around my suburb and drink a few beers.

You are in Auckland, so you guys should be O.K. for at least a year. From what I understand is, if the police see you around with an alcoholic substance, in public i.e. not a licensed place like bars or your residence, they will ask you to tip it out. if you don't, they will arrest you.

it's not even harsh. And this law should have been in place a long time ago.

We still don't have a retard for an Attorney general.

This just isn't as funny as Aussie parliamentards.

For once I'm gonna have to side with Stern on this one.

Boohoo.

Either of the other kiwis here actually tried living in Wellington? Yeah. If you're there for the night life, awesome, but some people have sleeping to do you noisy f*cks.

I haven't, I live in Hamilton, te city where nothing interesting happens. Even then we have a problem with drunken fools vomiting on the sidewalks and breaking bus shelters and stuff. I hope this thing goes countrywide soon.

Christchurch needs to sober up a bit.

Apologies.

BOOHOO! if you havent been chased by the cops for drinking in a public park at least at some point during your teenage years you've lived a sedate life.

My neighbour took an open drink with him as he left his house to the house next to him to join a party, he was arrested for it. WTF

I hid behind an electric box, too.

The strangest thing about drinking laws in Britian is they're so restrictive, yet you can drink on trains and in train stations no bother. Me and my friends landed up in Blackpool train station, it was full of police and we sat down and went through an 12pack, we were laughing at people, causing noise, spilling beer and the police said nothing. I was shocked.

is he under age or was it actually a drinking in public thing? kinda ghey.

Just drinking in public. They stopped him, fined him, he gave them lip (rightfully so imo) and they arrested him for drunk+disorderly I think.

I would have thought in all US states it's illegal to have an opened alcohol container in the vehicle(that was obviously used for alcohol).

Still sealed ones still being fine... like bringing them home from the alcohol store or a supermarket etc.

First ive heard about it in public places, only thought it was town.

What's your problem, Stern ? It's not like if I care about this. I don't even drink Alcohol. And I won't even care if they ban Alcohol completely.

Geez, you are a grumpy old fella.

He's getting back at youth, one post-during-work at a time.
