Unable to find gameinfo.txt relative to
'files\valve\steam\steamapps\[email protected]\sourcesdk\cstrike_sample+tontent'.

solutions:

1. set environment vairable 'vproject'to the path where gameinfo.txt is

2.place 'files\valve\steam\steamapps\[email protected]\sourcesdk\scstrike_sample_content' below the path where gameinfo.txt is.

3. add -game <path> on the command line where <path> is the dir that game info.txt is in.

If you go into the SourceSDK documents and visit the 1st time configuration tutorial and follow the steps it wont give you the error no more

Don't bother trying to set up hl2 yet, it won't work properly whatever you do.

Stick to css for now, and do what wrafe said -look at the tutorial and follow that.

ok, how do I do the 1st time setup? as I have this eror and it promtly closes hammer after displaying the error, ive tried reinstalling hammer but it has remembered my old settings, how can i change these?

wrked it out now, hehe for anyone else wanting to know the answer is delete the gamecfg.ini file in the bin folder of sourcesdk
