I just bought HL2 and started instalation smoothly.
But then, partway through disk 4, I get a fatal error and instalation ended because hl2.ico1 is not found. I just retried the process, but the same thing happened.
Looking at the disk, there are absolutely no surface scratches or dust or things like that. But closer inspection found a prominent white-ish line beneath the clear surface that follows the curvature of the disk but doesn't look intentional. I suspect a manufacturing error.
So, what can/should I do now? Can I still buy the game off of steam with this CD key?
