what game should I "suggest" my wife get for father's day?

i have some of the newer ones: Far cry, BF vietnam etc.

I'm looking for a good fps to keep me occupied till hl2 comes out....any new releases on the horizon? father's day is next week, I was hoping Doom3 would be out or Medal of Honour Pacific assualt by now

I also have an xbox but I really dont like fps shooters on consoles (besides halo) too dumbed down.

oooooopppps I put it in the wrong forum topic!!! can a mod please move it to the appropriate topic, plz

Thief: Deadly Shadows if you don't already have it.

no I dont have it...do you? what's it like? It seems like splinter cell in a medievil setting. I didnt get splinter cell cuz the gameplay seemed repetative. I prefer fps with brains...I loved rtcw Enemy territory and far cry

Yup I have it and finished it. I liked it so much I managed to finish it in about 3 days over the weekend. Played for 12 hours straight one night.

It's not perfect by any means and I have a few issues I don't like, but the gameplay is great and the story is fantastic. The graphics are pretty decent too.

I had a whole lot of fun with it and would highly recommend it. It was really refreshing to be able to sneak around all the enemies instead of killing them. (Although you can of course kill them if you want to.)

Never played splinter cell so I can't really compare them.

But make sure you have a pretty decent system to run it and especially a good graphics card. It doesn't support nvidia mx cards at all.

Oh, there's a demo out too if you want to try it. That will give you a decent idea of what gameplay is like. But don't fully judge it from the demo as the story really intensifies and unfolds later on in the game. Plus some of the later levels are fantastic.

PAINKILLER. What a shit story but goddamn is that game fun.

k I'll try the demo tonight...there's no multi-player is there?

my system plays far cry at high settings so I dont think thief will give me a problem

I thought about painkiller but....I could see it getting boring real fast...that's why I havent bought ut2004 (run and gun gets really boring after awhile)

Isn't Painkiller the one where you can't duck? Its fun to mess around in but not ducking and having a crappy story really makes it boring.

No, no multiplayer sadly. The thief community is trying to get Eidos to release the mapping editor though so we can make our own missions. Hopefully they will do so.

I think it took me around 30 hours to beat it so I felt it was definitely worth my money.

what? no ducking in painkiller? well that pretty much made up my mind

no multiplay in thief...hmmm not too much replay value, but I'll play the demo before I pass judgement

it doesnt sound like there'll be too many quality pc games released this month

Painkiller is so fast paced that you don't need a duck bind

yes but is there any replay value? how's multi-play?

If you go for multiplay and UT2004 is too run-and-gun for you, I'd suggest BF:V. Great atmosphere, solid gameplay and truly addicting.

"What the ****? I can't duck in this ****ing game, **** this shit..."

Hahaha, you dislike a game because you're not able to duck in it? HA!

Frank, he clearly said he wants a game with a good storyline & plot. The "no-duck-for-you" just makes things worse.

And may I recommend Thief, I just played the demo and I'm still amazed by this game: graphics are stunning and the gameplay is great. Only drawback: loading times (even with 1GB of ram... sigh).

Call of Duty or Max Payne 2 if you don't have them.

Also farcry if you have a good system.

Yes, Max Payne 2 is sooooo beautiful! I love the theme melody so much, and the story is quite touching...

I already have BF vietnam and Far cry. I've played the xbox version of NOLF and enjoyed it, although the mp was kinda boring

I'll try the thief demo but I tend to whip through single player games in about a week so I like to get games that have good multiplay as well. I spend the bulk of my time playing mp. I was thinking ut2004 but I bought ut2003 awhile back and only played it a few times....am I the only one who is tired of DM and CTF?

I've played through call of duty and will probably get the expansion but I wasnt too impressed by the mp. I was really hoping that some triple A title would come out this month like Medal of Honor PA; something that'll keep my mind off hl2 till it comes out.
