What is your favourite live music event?
By that I don't mean a particular festival, or gig, I mean which do you prefer; festivals or gigs.

Are you a festival person then? Do you like camping out in those muddy fields to see all those acts get up on stage and nurse you through your afternoon hangover?

Do you prefer acts performing their own gigs at their own venues? Hearing some stuff they might not usually play.

Are you the kind of person who prefers going clubbing to hear some decent DJs lay some beats down for you?

Me? I'm a rave-head all the way, with clubbing coming in second.
I just love the atmosphere you get at a rave: everyone being friendly, very little if any violence, up all night, plenty of time to express yourself in the daaarnce and of course some great music - not the kind you're likely to ever hear on the radio :(

So... what about you?

since I like music from a lot of different genres, I like live 'gigs' by indie bands or generic rock bands, but I also love clubs and also certain DJs (ferry corsten / PVD / etc) ... I'm also a nostalgic lover of the old hardcore classics, from dj hixxy through anabolic frolic to helterskelter...

So i'm happy pretty much anywhere, as long as talent is involved. Just because I love music from a lot of genres, doesnt mean I like all music from them genres. I still hate crappy music!

Ferry Corsten!!! Fair play mate, he's f**king amazing isn't he.

(I'm goin see him this weekend :D )

And Hixxy! You like Hardcore!! Woo! You ever heard Kevin Energy? He does Freeform hardcore, its amazing; imagine a cross between hardcore, techno and trance... and imagine it done mint :bounce:

Not heard of that kevin dude before but i'll check it out :)

Ferry corsten also formed Gouryella, who I also love to bits ( www.gouryella.com )

Arrr, Gouryella Wall Halla is a gorgeous song, always have it on my minidisc player, great for sunny days.
Similarly lovelly chilled out song is Corstens mix of Solarstone; seven cities. That's well nice.

Gouryella - Walhalla (Armin van Buuren's Rising Star Mix) has got to be my #1 track for chilling out, if you've not heard this mix before then you really should get it :)

I used to end up at alot of raves. :imu:

You bliink? Really?!? Now that I didn't see coming.

When was that? What DJs you see?

Hey lepobz, I might have to get you to send me that mix. I'm at uni at the mo and it's impossible to connect to any filesharing program, which is a total biatch.

heh, I was pretty grunge for a while lol, a couple of years back...

but tbh, I wasn't really paying attention to the DJ's :p

I tend to just listen to CDs myself...thought there's the odd concert I'll go to if tempted (NIN NIN NIN NIN). The trouble is finding someone to go with. :|

Festivals are good and all, but there's nothing better than going out to see one of your favourite bands.

Festivals are great. Roll on Fury Fest 2005!! (Anthrax, Slaaaaaaaaayeerr, In Flames, ****in' A!) Although I have to go to France for that, but who cares. Better then what Ozzfest has turned out like this year, anyway.

I love Festivals. Not just for the bands that I actually like that may play, but for the fact you're with mates at pretty much one big party in a feild. When a shit band comes on, go get a beer and listen to a stereo + speakers back at you're tent.

Although gigs are great. But not gigs were its a huge stage and massive standing area. Thats not much fun. The only gig I've liked in a place like that was Sepultura.

Smaller gigs are better, when the band are pretty much no higher than you are and are right in you're face. Thats just my opinion, though. And you only get those type of gigs with smaller bands. Richer more famous bands play big gigs and stuff. Meh.

I get out to a bar now and then, when I've got the money. I've been doing it less and less lately, though, as there's been a trend in Baton Rouge towards 80's cover bands. I love 80's music, but there's only so many times I can tolerate hearing the same songs played by different bands.

Specific group on tour/at a gig.

Seeing some good DJ's comes second.

all bar the lasers one....
Like a mixture of the above (on different days of course).

ah! so many choices...
