Actually what Monkey is saying is that Virtual games/hentai 'teach' people to objectify women/girls soley as objects of lust instead of living, thinking human beings. Which it possibly does to some extent? I can't be bothered to get any research papers out, but it's quite possible that this is true. Personally though I think the type of people who would be 'affected' by the kind of world-view that these games push would be a) damaged already, in which case it's not the fault of the medium, or b) really young, in which case they shouldn't be getting the stuff in the first place.

I think the relative debate would be more about perpetuating cultural assumptions and attitudes rather than actually directly inducing anyone to rape women and gut them like fishes.
