I just got FF7 working on my PC after many patches and installations but how do I run away from battles? I just spent an hour gonig through the game then got killed by a dragon right before the save point in mt nibel. This could have been avoided if I knew how to run away. I lost a ton of spell upgrades and weapons and levels and I have searched google for 15 minutes now and haven't found anything descriptive. Can someone please tell me how to run away from battles in FF7? If they explained it in the game I was probably afk or brushed through it real fast. Thanks.

If memory serves me correctly, there should be a button you assigned that's the equivalent of the playstations left 1, left 2, right 1 and right 2...or something to that extent. Anyways, you have to hold right (I think) and then the run command will pop up. I'm not too sure because I haven't played it in a bajillion years but I just remember it being something like that.

Good game though.

I'm pretty sure you had to hold down L2 and R2 on the PSX to run away, so there's probably a button somewhere on the PC version. You have to hold it down until they run, and the time it takes varies.

yeah you have to hold one of the buttons, i dont know what one though... i never ran away :D

i'm guessing a fair bit, but is it "Z + C"? I seem to remember it being something like that...

of course, the PC version's controls sucked.... and the FMVs looked even worse than the PS1 version's.

If my memory serves me correctly, it is 9 and 3 on the numpad. Its either that or 7 and 1. And also, I liked the controls for the pc, I could play with only one hand.

I figured it out you have to hold pg up and pg down (defaults) to run.

If you have any more questions about FF7 i'm sure I can help, I beated the whole game many times and I used a very complete walkthrough on gamefaqs so I had every possible materias and items. Me and my friend also tried to get 10 billion gills to rebuild Midgard but it seems that it can't be done :)

OH NO I just beat Hojo and the game crashed right after that and now ALL MY SAVES ARE GONE! Thats 4 days of playing wasted, unless anyone has a save file for me after Hojo is beat, screw FF7!

Damn, that must be really, really, really annoying >.<

Once all of my saves wiped for baulders gate 2.. over 100 hours wasted... I just gave up.

Final fantasy 7 is a great game though, you should play it through again. I've completed it 4 or 5 times now, and every time I've got a golden chocobo and ALL of the extras and beat all the enemies exept for two...

The Ruby and emerald weapon, damnit.

I'm pretty sure i got the emerald one down to really low health though... I had assigned "full-life" to "finishing move", meaning when cloud died he cast life on himself and resurrected  It doesnt make you invincible though... But I had another devious trick which was to cast knights of the round table 2 times in one turn (using mimic). I had loads of dastardly tactics actualy... such as casting "reflect" on your whole team, then casting ultima on yourself. It reflects 3 times and does 3 times the damage :D On the save file that I got omnislash though, i couldn't be bothered to try and take it on. I could probally beat it if i really, really, really tried.... but i can't be ared -_-

Get added effect materia, two copies of KOTR, one phoneix, two mimes, one final attack materia, one MP absorb, W-Magic and Quadra Magic.

Slap MP absorb onto KOTR, bang the final attack to phoneix. Then pop Quadra magic on the other KOTR. Give that lucky guy W-magic, then give the other two the mimes. If you can, bang the other two with double or triple growth slots and pile them full of all materia or anything else you want to grow.

Start the battle, casting W-magic Quadra KOTR, that's eight KOTR in one go, and each time you cast it you'll refill your magic points. Get everyone to mime that over and over. If you die, and your final attack is mastered, you'll cast phoneix and you'll all come alive again. Cat KOTR again, and keep on miming.

You'll soon get sick of seeing those knights.

Rrrreeal soon.

I loved FF7.... ;(

I beat the ruby weapon once (this time with the lost saves was my third playthrough) but I was never faced emerald.

Grr I really don't wanna start over from the beggining looks like I'm playing through hl2 again.
