I knew I was going to do it...

The wrong window had focus when I held Shift+Delete to delete something, and it deleted an entire folder.

I downloaded shareware that found it, and as I began to recover the folder, it kept telling me that I have to register to recover any more. :hmph:

After wasting over an hour of my day off, I was wondering if anyone knows of any free software to recover files.

(I'm using NTFS file structure.)

torrentz.com

NOT A TORRENT SITE.

TORRENT SEARCH ENGINE - TO OTHER SITES. NO ILLEGAL STUFF ON THAT SITE.

ha-ha!

Just search for something like "flie recovery" or the name of the shareware program you downloaded.

I no Norton has "Norton Unerase"...I used that like a bitch all the time.

Exactly why I never use the auto-perma-delete key shortcut. :P I delete, then goto recycle bin and empty it from there, once I'm sure I want it removed. :)

Haven't been on in a while, just wanted to say that right after I originally posted, I found a program that set me up right.

I can't remember the name of it right now, just search file recovery at download.com

There are several available, and at least two programs that are completely free.

The first one was a disaster of a gui, I couldn't even figure out what the hell was what.

So I downloaded the other freeware one, and it's really light, really simple, and really easy. It's really fast, and it's free, so, it's real funny that there are others on the same page that want $30 to do the same thing. :upstare:

It also shows you how easy it is to recover all that hidden deleted porn you thought you erased from your harddrive.

PC Inspector File Recovery
PC Inspector smart recovery
FreeUndelete

None detect my hard drive even. When i load windows it shows its connected. But i cant see it in my computer or on these programs. The 1st program shows it in physical drive but not under logical.

Update:

So im looking for my programs and i found

Data Doctor Recovery FAT+NTFS (Demo)
Handy Recovery
DiskInternals Uneraser

Data Doctor was able to read and search my hard drive but its a demo
Handy Recovery didnt find it at 1st but had a option to find lost partitions, it also has previews for the files your looking at! I have HOPE! but 1 file per day! :(
DiskInternals Uneraser Best looking program yet found my drive, not good with the files. but guess what its a trail!

....Anyone have any good recovery software that's free? It looks like all the free software is bullshit.
